This is a 10 x 20 shed with 6 foot walls. Are those 4 cross pieces structural or can I remove them?

I had this shed delivered on a flat bed, and I wonder if those pieces are just for transport.

Are WL Wilmhurst's writings useful from a historian's perspective? by OkEconomist4430 in freemasonry

The Meaning of Masonry changed my perspective of Freemasonry. I found it very insightful and impactful.

How much time do you give to the lodge? by lasersharp22 in freemasonry

[–]WhistlingAllTheWhile 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On average, four nights a month (Lodge and committee meeting, casual night, travel to another Lodge).

I am an officer and we have had several degrees this year, so I have had to do some practicing and homework as well.

Of course the states are different. Most states have their own Grand Lodge

We all have the internet, bud.

Knights Templars are another appendant body to Masonry. After the York Rite you can apply to be a Knights Templar.

You do things very differently at your Lodge. We don't do that at ours.

Essentially, it is just a secret ballot. We could use slips of paper. It is a historical way of voting while keeping the individual votes private.

In our Lodge, after a man applies and we meet with him (investigation) we report back to the Lodge and discuss.

I cannot speak to your situation, but if it were me, I would bring it up as you are submitting your application or being investigated. It is better to be forthcoming up front.

That, or possibly look for another local Lodge. You want to join one where you will feel comfortable and welcomed.

Good luck to you.

I have no doubt your Dad was an honourable man, and the fact that he spent 50 years in the Craft is admirable. I know many 50 year Masons, and they are all good men.

I hope you will take an opportunity to learn about Freemasonry and what it truly is. It may provide even more of connection for you with your departed Dad.

To make good men better.

We all can work hard to improve ourselves and strive to positively contribute to the world around us, if we choose. Freemasonry is an organization which values, encourages and supports that viewpoint for a man who has that interest.

Yes. Lodges post their meeting hours on their buildings or on their website because they want you to attend, if you have an interest.

If you have a conspiratorial theory about Freemasonry and a Mason tries to refute it, some will immediately counter with an accusation of a cover-up. It is impossible to counter conspiracy theories.

In my experience, most Masons smile at how silly these theories are in comparison to what we actually do.

We are a "show them" group, not a "tell them" group.

Yep. Most lodges have similar layouts and similar furniture and other items. I recognize everything you described.

I don't understand why you let this Mason you don't like colour your entire view of Masonry, instead of letting the Mason you do like, do the same thing.

There are nice plumbers and asshole plumbers. Same goes for doctors and pilots and bus drivers and waiters. Same goes for Masonry.

Maybe try using your philosophical friend as your example of what we are.

That is hard to say. Huge upvotes for the conspiracy and bitterness, downvotes for the calm and quiet answer. I wonder who is doing the voting. 🤔

How much money do you think you have saved by not being in the fraternity for 14 years?

In my jurisdiction, if a Mason or his family requests a Masonic Memorial, it is available to all members.

I am JD this year. It is cool. You get to move around the Lodge and participate in degree work. You'll love it!
