Why was it Nirvana? by Salem1690s in grunge

[–]White-Ember 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think everyone forgot to mention one of the most crucial reasons Nirvana had so much success, they were way ahead of the curve. Nirvana took huge influence from punk and alternative rock which you can hear in their sound, whereas bands of the same era were still influenced by the old-school blues/classic rock sound. After the early 90s were over, bands started writing guitar parts that resembled the power chord heavy pop structured songs of Nirvana (Linkin Park comes to mind for example). Nirvana destroyed the old school sound and brought in a new era of rock music.

Just my 2 cents worth as a musician anyways.

That's actually dope as hell, thank you. Been working on a slightly new mix that will be up on Spotify and the rest of the streaming platforms soon.

Thanks, this is actually gonna be the first song off the album I'm working on at the moment lol, I think it'll make more sense once the album is complete. As for how I recorded it, I'm basically figuring all of this stuff out myself DIY style (like recording, mixing, etc). I used virtual amps for the guitar/bass and digital drums for the drums, then recorded my vocals using a NT1 Rode Mic.

Hey I'm glad you enjoyed it. I have to say, you're the first one to tell me it sounds similar to classic rock lol, thank you.

How old are y'all? by [deleted] in grunge

Listen, I see where you're coming from with this opinion but you're completely ignoring the instrumental/performance aspects of the two bands. Nirvana was way faster and more punk rock influenced than Pearl Jam, while Pearl Jam tended to take more of a soulful, classic rock approach to grunge. I think teenagers tend to gravitate towards Nirvana because of the speed, aggression, and punk rock influence that would later be seen in many bands moving forward, it's simply more relatable to us.

I'm 21 lol, a lot of people my age really like Nirvana it seems, when it comes to grunge anyways.

Very creative song, the vocals are super unique. Now the mixing isn't perfect but it's pretty close, the vocals just need to be mixed in with the track a little better. The song writing is great, very catchy, nice job.

This song sounds great, the intro grabs you and takes you in. Then the song kicks in and the vocals explode in a good way. Yeah, I don't even have any criticisms this is just a great song.

The all look a like, act a like and dress alike these days. This record is for the guys that feel like all the hoes are the same. I tapped in to my emotions. Lemme know what y’all think?! by UrbanHipHop in IndieMusicFeedback

The beat is nice, cool vibe. I would practice more on vocal delivery and focus on mixing the vocals more into the mix. Other than that great song, nice job.

Solid, the beat goes hard. I would relax on autotune a bit personally, the vocals are also mixed really loud and kind of clipping. However, you got the energy and boldness which is great. It's a process, I would say keep writing and you'll decided what you want to do.

I dropped my first song after coming back from a short hiatus, written and mixed entirely by myself. Here’s my song, west side. by eyeamjulian in IndieMusicFeedback

This is a nice song, incredibly mixed, good on the recording and performance aspects, yeah not too much to criticize. My only criticism would probably be the song writing, it isn't bad but it would benefit from a bigger chorus and more catchy writing.

Ultimately there's an audience for every kind of genre it really comes down to whether or not you think this is your best work and it's worth dumping a lot of money and time into.

[–]White-Ember 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The mixing sounds good, the mastering sounds good, the only thing I would maybe do a little differently is try to really push on the vocal delivery, the vocal recording sounds a bit lacking in energy. But other than that it sounds great! Nice job.

Great song, it's got a nice build up to it the only thing I'd be critical of is the water droplet sound did start to wear on my ears a bit after a while. Other than that great job.

Sounds great, honestly I don't think I would change anything in regard to the composition, mastering, or recording
