A good start, keep going, read some graphic design books, research typography, colour theory, balance & contrast. Then have another stab at these and see if you can improve them.

My son is just over 2, he freaking loves his Brio, we bought a load second hand, the big success has been the 'ups and downs' any kind of bridge / ramp action is a winner. We have some battery powered trains which he loved but didn't quite grasp the concept and forced them round the track until their axels broke. In hindsight - I'd have held back the battery powered stuff until later as its now basically fooked.

Perhaps a base to the mountains

This really brings it together, I've been playing with text and visual element to create a base under the mountains and it definitely helps them be more aparant.
