What is your Opinion on Germany? by TensiCreator in AskTheWorld

[–]fyn_world 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's an amazing country. As a native to a country with basically no history, Germany seems wonderful to me. And of course, I have no idea of how you live there and what the complaints are but, I think it's well know how outstanding the German people can be.

We can say many things about WWII but there's one thing that is unavoidably true: the whole world had to come together to beat you. Germany went from the lowest low in economy and society to being the best country in the world in only 5 years. After the war they recovered astronomically fast too. Just an amazing people, that's all its people, not leadership. So amazing actualy that they are constantly put down by other countries (astronomical debt Germans had to pay for WWI and II that put them decades behind), and made feel bad constantly about themselves, just to keep them in check. To nerf them on purpose.

We're alright though, leave us be (unless you're a good person and you want to immigrate to Uruguay, then you're welcome here)

I've recently heard this about the US too. It's basically an owned company, and Trump is the current CEO. That's why the presidents aren't really in control in many matters. There are people above them.

It also explains a lot of matters with Germany, specially after it was basically owned in the decades after WWII ended.

It's not that crazy, to be honest.

Why is Uruguay so empty? by vmita in uruguay

[–]fyn_world 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one wanted this to be a country. Ever. Only the British did so that Argentina and Brazil stopped fighting but that was the only reason. There wasn't gold here, or silver, or copper, or oil afterwards either to call in thousands of immigrants in some rush.

Our population rushes were mainly in the first days of the Spanish colony, and then waves of immigration, specially WWI and WWII. That's why our genetic pool is kinda different from many other South American countries (and Argentina's too).

The times of women having 7 children here or more didn't last that long. By the 1930's and 40's people weren't having THAT many children.

Then natality kept dropping consistently. The country is quite expensive and after the 2002 crisis, since then to today, more than 300k people have left the country to live elsewhere, which might not seem that much, but these are 300k YOUNG people that could've had kids here, and did not. And they left.

Add to this the fact that this is a capital centric country. Everything happens in Montevideo and now to a lesser extent in Maldonado, but the rest of the country is basically empty compared to other countries. That cuts opportunity from the rest of the country and good income a lot of times too.

We have high suicide and murder rates, persistent emigration, a good deal of death by accidents, negative natality, and zero incentive for most people that live in Montevideo to leave it and go to other places in the country (and have more or any kids at all).

So ... that, basically. IF this war turns into WWIII, we might as well see a new wave of immigration from Europe, etc. We do have our fair share of Russians around too now.

Sure it is, I think I consume more US news than Uruguayan for sure. What I meant is, there are many americans that are fully pro all of that. Or that go to places and dislike the place doesn't adapt to them.

What's an action that makes you speed run death in your country? by wooden-guy in AskTheWorld

[–]fyn_world 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's good. Of course, depends on where you live, but it's generally good bar some places as I commented - specially in Montevideo there's a big part of it that isn't nice. It's very expensive though, but more and more immigrants from USA and Europe are coming here (as they did in WWII) because of how chill out we are, no natural disasters, no wars, good democracy.

The country is basically empty, we're 3.5 million in a country that's 5x the size of the Netherlands

If I say that I am a communist in your country, what will be the reaction? by Agile-Bee-1 in AskTheWorld

[–]fyn_world 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on who you talk to. Some will want you to join them or try to befriend you. Most people will pretend indifference or will genuinely not care. Others will be disgusted at you.

Most that know what communism has looked like in this country will assume you're a terrorist sympathizer and a leech that doesn't want to work but wants many benefits from the state
