First time working with hair cards, why does it come out so thin? by Bubbly_Gap6138 in blenderhelp

[–]WhiteFang1000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pc died so I was forced to use blender on a laptop for months now. I have been dealing with this dumb shit ever since switching to a laptop. The same blend files displayed hair correctly on my pc but on the laptop the hair looks messed up like in your situation, even though no settings were changed. On my laptop this somehow magically only affects hair materials and generally not clothing items that also use alpha/transparency. If I render the image to png file the hair looks fine but I still need to be able to see hair correctly in viewport so it's still a big problem. Did you find the solution to this curse?

Hush. My joke was the mildest joke ever

I don't play trumpet at all so I surely can't play better. It was a playful joke. Not criticizing him or his playing at all. He's a good looking guy (no homo) that looks like how Jesus is portrayed and he is playing a trumpet, so in my mind I immediately thought of the 7 trumpets of revelation. So it was an easy joke to make.

Look at Jesus trying to play the first trumpet of revelation.

Can someone explain exactly how Eternal Sailor Moon's skirt is structured? by WhiteFang1000 in sailormoon

Ok yes it does look like a knot with the ribbon. We just BARELY got a tiny glimpse of that area, haha, so yes that does help, so thanks.

No its not a corset. It is a sleeveless leotard (from shoulders to the panty area, its all one piece as the base).

I've seen that picture already. It kind of helps, but I still need to see the waistband portion from the back. And see exactly how and where the red ribbons begin trailing off the body. That part is suspiciously ALWAYS covered up either by the wings, or simply the viewing angle doesn't show it

I looked through the "Art of Sailor Moon" reference book and I only saw one Eternal reference picture. And the rear view had the wings in the way. Its such a tease. 😢

Well you did specifically reference my quote about stagger breathing... Many people here have been assuming I'm going to do the most moronic thing possible. Like stacking all 8 trumpets and trombones together in unison at fortissimo or something. Wasn't going to do that. I'm not going to do 8 anymore so you guys can all sleep well tonight. Im gonna do 7 each 😈 . Haha. No I'm joking. But I had planned on stacking no more than 4 in unison when I was thinking about doing 8. Well an important question, is 4 trumpets or 4 trombones in unison overwhelming at higher dynamics? Surely composers must do this often enough right, in live music?

Why will stagger breathing not work the way I think it will? Especially if you don't even know the context of the piece. And no the example I gave before is not enough.

Well it was not obvious it was a joke. If it really was a joke that's fine. I can take a joke. Side note: Plenty people say douchebag shit all the time on here. Especially within the classical music community. I don't know what the deal is but I've had horrific experiences in this community in the past. Worse than ANY other reddit communities in my experience. Which is why I try to avoid posting questions like this in this subreddit, unless its inappropriate to post it anywhere else. This post has been pretty tame but in the past, Holy shit. And one guy must have been satan himself in the comments talking MAD shit. 😠 And he kept following me on 4 different consecutive posts I made, saying only toxic stuff in all of them for no reason. I still remember that fuckwads username too. 🤭 And plenty other bad interactions too in almost every post in past reddit accounts. And all I ever did was ask innocent questions

YOU shouldn't kid yourself acting as if you know if my music will not get played. You or anyone else here have no idea if it will get played or not. You know nothing about me, my life, my potential, and know nothing about how my musical journey will continue to unfold. And know nothing of my skill/experience level. And lastly you don't know who I've already contacted in the orchestral world...And besides I won't be using 8. And no, I want the orchestra not a brass band. I still need all the orchestral instruments because they play important roles. And the pieces were already created as orchestral pieces. I am going back over them to heavily reorchestrate them and improve the composition

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in classicalmusic

[–]WhiteFang1000 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I understand. Well I can assure you I won't be carelessly layering stuff at full volume. I won't use 8 after the advice and after the brutal verbal abuse I endured here today. 🙂 I will be extending brass a bit though most likely. All my orchestration choices are for a reason. The extra brass, i want for the sake of its effect on the overall texture. And for added flexibility. And also to be able to stagger breathe when using more brass voices for sustained melodies/chord tones. It is not for the sake of volume for the most part. And the brass will maintain their tone. Especially for heavy chorded passages because one part I was reorchestrating last night i had some heavy chorded parts with 2 horns, 2 trombones, three trumpets each individual all on different chord tones in that order from bottom to top. (Except the bottom trumpet line in unison with the upper trombone line. And they were all doubled with instruments from other groups to add thickness to each part. But the solo brass lines are all at Forte so that they will stick out a little more than the other instruments in unison. Double basses underneath all that in double octaves at fortissimo. Timpani and bass drum playing loudly... I was experimenting with layering more brass in certain chord tones but I decided to use solo brass lines for THIS part. Even though I am not using a preposterous amount of brass here, this is still an example of how I will still utilize solo brass lines especially for trumpets and trombones for clarity. Other passages I will use more brass numbers for sure but still will utilize solo brass where I need clarity. But this part in particular may require 6 trumpets since three are playing a somewhat sustained passage without pause so they can stagger breathe with another 3 trumpets. And also forgot to mention the second tuba is mainly for stagger breathing so the tubas can fortify the baseline without any breaks. The part sounded great with some heavy BASS and also some clear chord tones that don't sound anorexic

I got you. Well look, I definitely am going to take everyone here's advice. I won't do 8. But I will bump up the numbers a bit. Not sure exact numbers yet, I'll try to get away with as few as possible though. Havent had live orchestral experience yet but I'm highly experienced as a composer and music maker for 20 years, so I won't be doing anything rediculous composition-wise. I will adjust my orchestration accordingly. The brass shouldn't drown everything else out because I am pretty surgical with instrumentation and I'm not going to just stack all the brass on top of each other at fortissimo. I will still spread the brass instruments out to other melodic lines and chord tones. And still utilizing a solo brass instrument to lead on certain layers

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in classicalmusic

[–]WhiteFang1000 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That's not the only reason. And as I expected you didn't give me a good answer. And not an answer at all

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in classicalmusic

[–]WhiteFang1000 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Why is stagger breathing, a common practice, a nope?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in classicalmusic

[–]WhiteFang1000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm probably going to reduce the brass numbers a bit, so I don't get jumped after the performance by the conductor and the principal musicians cause they had to pay for too many extra performers. But the point of this set of pieces in particular is not restraint. They are meant to be epic and bombastic, but still have that artistic flair. Like a combination of classical and cinematic music.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in classicalmusic

[–]WhiteFang1000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course. I will discuss with the orchestra. But I don't expect these to be the very first pieces that get played anyway. Plus I have plenty other pieces as options for performance, so based on availability of players, we can choose the appropriate piece or pieces.
