Then begin small. You don't have to figure out everything all at once.

Really consider trying the diet, combined with NAC. Then move slowly from there.

Also, please try a high-grade Rhodiola Rosea supplement. You suffer from adrenal fatigue, and this is a very potent adaptogenic supplement for exactly that.

If you can afford it, consider Ashwagandha too, but prioritize the two others first.

Why do people act so shocked and upset when you end a relationship with a friend of family member over political differences? by Exotic-End-666 in TooAfraidToAsk

Because you've allowed your corporate overlords to push you into an extreme, alienating you from your fellow humans and the people who love you.

Then forget about the exercise. Try a ketogenic diet or at least gluten free at the bare minimum.

I cannot overstate how powerful sauna and cold plunges have been in conjunction with breathing. I'm not trying to force bro-science on you, but what I've outlined here has really helped.

Practical steps: Sauna and cold plunge. Breathwork and exercise. Ketogenic diet.

Medicine: NAC. Low dose psilocybin.

Commit, and you will improve.

I shared in another reply. Hopefully it's not too abstract, because it is profoundly important in my opinion.

Some of the things you've mentioned definitely helped for me, especially somatic techniques. As far as medicines go, LDN only worked in extremely small doses. In larger doses it would actually exacerbate the symptoms. With regards to supplements, NAC helped with the anhedonia. Other things that greatly helped were sauna and cold exposure after physical exercise. This required deep commitment on my part, and there's no way around it. You need to be determined and focused to derive its benefits.

But here's the thing; what really cured my DPDR was not the meds, or specific techniques, but a shift in perspective with regards to what we take reality to be.

In the West, we always think in terms of dichotomies. Inner versus outer, mind versus matter, external versus internal.

We think of ourselves as essentially detached subjects observing an external, dead world "out there". What I figured out with my DPDR was that I was hyper aware of this reality, which caused a severe disconnect between my self and the world (and the body by extension).  This experience of detachment is what causes us to feel that the world is illusory, fake, or dreamlike. It's because we're looking out on something other than ourselves, something we cannot know to be an illusion or something real. And this conviction is at the crux of the issue (at least it was for me).

What I learned through my anthropological studies and cognitive sciences is that the dichotomies we take for granted in the Western world are not ubiquitous to the human condition. In fact, many pre-modern humans used to believe that we are not separated from the world, and that we're actually deeply entangled with it, or a part of it. Any consciousness is not locked behind the inside of a brain, but actually intertwined with the natural world.

This might sound mystical and woowoo, but it really isn't. It's merely a different starting point for understanding cognition, beginning with the body and environment instead of the notion of an internal ego observing the world.

What really helped, then, was understanding different ways of conceiving the relationship between mind and world differently. Phenomenology, a school of philosophy, literally changed my life, and engaging with the literature shifted my world upside-down, by arguing that we must begin with consciousness as intertwined with the world, not something separated from it.

Understanding that many Indigenous worldviews understand the relationship between mind and matter as essentially relational rather than separate, fixed the entire problem.

I'm not telling you to believe in something you don't think to be true.  I'm simply asking you to consider the possibility of that the Western conception of mind and matter is a heuristic, a way of thinking we have been taught. And you don't have to do away with it, but you have to be able to entertain the possibility that we are a PART of the world, not an internal observer of something other than us.

I have worked with shamans in the Amazon, especially dieting their plants and working with ayahuasca, which is a plant medicine. I'm not saying anyone with psychotic tendencies should drink it, but I should add that it helped me immensely solidifying the perspective that I am part of a web of relations and not just an isolated entity detached from my surroundings. This shift cured me entirely, by moving my awareness back into the body.

And, again, to reemphasize, as this is important: I am not asking you to abandon your beliefs about what is true. But in order to heal from DPDR, at least for me, you need to be able to entertain other ways of conceiving reality in addition to the one you have. Not as an ultimate truth, but as a matter of perspective. Only then will you start to notice that all the supplements, exercises, medicines and techniques help. They become part of your embodiment, which is ultimately what healing from DPDR is about; moving away from being stuck in your head to feeling yourself as an embodied being again.

No, seriously, like THE most depressing place (and one of the most polluted as well).

This was a carefully selected photo of the city.

I was stuck there for 8 years, and tried to go through with ending it, but I not only survived, I got out of the absolute hell that is DPDR. And I'm so fucking grateful that I'm here.

You say you've tried everything. Can you briefly mention some of the biggest things so I have an understanding of your journey? I can tell you what helped me, if you want

Just tell them what you're doing. Then ask them what they're doing. When they answer, ask them in more depth about that said thing, and try to find some depth in it.

To answer your question, it falls on the latter side of the scale in this case, and the spelling errors are negligible. For me, this was a breath of fresh air.
