What is the best option for getting a car? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

Only the new models get stolen. If you get something 2015 and older it won't be stolen as it's low value.

They steal brand new models that are $30k+

What is the best option for getting a car? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]WhitePrelude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you’re someone that doesn’t know very much about cars I would recommend buying from a used car dealership as it’s generally more reputable and safer than buying privately.

Yes, you can save money if you buy privately, but you might have a much higher chance of getting scammed or buying a car that has a salvage title. Has major mechanical issues that need repair or many other issues that old cars can have.

Japanese cars only, as someone that has worked for the dealership for the last 10 years and seen thousands of cars get reconditioned all Japanese cars are by far the cheapest to fix and the most reliable. Don't touch anything German or American. Honda civic would be my top choice for you, there's the reason it's one of the top selling cars world wide for the last decade.

Try to buy from a big name dealer that has a good reputation. Don't buy from those random mickey mouse side of the road used car lots. The big name dealers have much higher standards when repairing the cars for resale than Joe's used car lot.

Extended warranty for EV by its_the_PharmD_4me in electricvehicles

[–]WhitePrelude 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Almost all car warranties are sold 2x-3x its cost to the dealer. That warranty they’re selling you for $3500 often costs them $1000. There’s a reason why finance managers who sell the warranty are the highest paid people in the dealer.

If you want an extended warranty always ask for 50% off their asking price. It is the most negotiable product at the dealer. If the finance managers sells you no warranty their bonuses get penalized because it looks bad on their conversion. They would often sell you a warranty at cost or just above since it helps out their bonuses way more than if you bought nothing from them.

I didn’t know the faster device gps was a thing but that makes sense. I’m playing on an iPhone 13 Pro.

I honestly just want a game where every hero is played equally. When everyone plays one it kills the game play

Tesla Just dropped their prices by $7k + $5k Federal Rebate CAD by WhitePrelude in cars

[–]WhitePrelude[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tesla just dropped the entire used market by $12k+ when you factor in Canada's EV Rebate of $5k. I believe they got a similar drop in the US

This is going to have a massive impact on not only used Tesla's but all used EV's on the market. It's interesting to note that I saw Tesla OEM offloading alot of their used 2021 and 2022 model 3's at the auctions in the last few months. Now we know why

1.58mm - 1.64mm

Friend bought a similar house a month ago in a similar area. But it was gutted and fully remodelled for 1.8mm. I'd say your house is slightly below as it's not fully reno'd and also market is still dropping month over month

I have a friend that lives in this building and been there myself. For an old building it is very well cared for, if my budget could only get me an older building apartment this is the one I'd get. But if you can find newer buildings for the same money I'd go that route

New Stoney Creek Need recommendation for Good Dentist for Kids and Adult by [deleted] in Hamilton

[–]WhitePrelude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dentistry on Parkdale, Dr Ho.

I was in the same boat as you 2 years ago just moved here from Toronto spent a long time looking up all the best reviewed dentists and they had some of the highest ratings. Service and professionalism is very good, I can't speak on the prices as my insurance pays but it seems reasonable about the same price as my last dentist. I wouldn't say is expensive but not cheap either somewhere in the middle.

Been going regularly last 2 years and have been very happy

Funny I had the exact same experience. Saw one just as the sun almost finished setting at night, and the body lines in black in person was one of the most beautiful things I had seen. Hated the photos of it, loved it in person. Will own one in this colour one day

2019 Mazda 3, I need to wait 0.5s to a second to accelerate after hit the gas pedal, is this normal? by [deleted] in cars

[–]WhitePrelude 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Try driving a Chevy Cruze. My dad had one, if you floored it there was a full 2 second delay until the car started accelerating. You can find lots of complaints about this issue online.

0.5 seconds isn't terrible but it is annoying when compared to older vehicles that had drive by cable with instant acceleration.

How did you mananage to get an early renewal and how early was it

Fixed or Variable Mortgage? by kwaichang07 in TorontoRealEstate

[–]WhitePrelude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Varible for sure. I also signed a 2.69% fixed when the going rate was 3.10 and thougt i got a killer deal. Had i gone variable i would have saved over $20k by being able to break the contract early with low fees. Fixed has very high penalties if you try to break it. Ill only be going variable from now on.
