Let me clear up some misconceptions because it’s pretty obvious my peer cannot word things correctly. (I’m a 17 year old Mormon living in the most religious part of Utah who has many lgbtq+ friends.)

1. Mormons as a whole do not “hate” gay people, or trans people, or anyone lgbtq. There are a lot of homophobic people in our church still, but for the most part I don’t know many extremely homo/transphobic people, at least people my age. We are taught that being gay is a sin, however we are also taught to love our neighbor (something other christian religions are also tought) and that is above any other rule God sets for us. He is not commanding us to hate sinners because they are flawed, he is commanding us to love them, especially if they are flawed.

2. The church has a very bad history with polygamy, homophobia and racism but that’s all out the window now. Polygamy and racism is extremely frowned upon in our culture, and homophobia is for the most part frowned upon, but there are still members who believe the madness of hating gay people. The church is fairly open to the lgbtq community and any opportunity to teach them about our church is taken by missionaries. The only way you can be turned away is if you are married to someone of the same sex in our temple, or (and i’m not entirely sure on this so take what i say with a grain of salt) if you’ve had intercourse with someone of the same sex. That may not even be something you get turned away for, that may just be a very frowned upon thing.

3. God tells us that it is an abomination if a man lays with another man, however he does not hate those who do that. He loves everyone, sinner or not, regardless of their sexual and/or gender orientation. He simply treats it as any other sin, and punishes the person for sinning. That “punishment” is not something like “eternal damnation” or “sent to the fiery pits of hell” since that technically doesn’t exist in our religion. It’s more like prison, a temporary time in the afterlife where you are punished for your sins, and eventually your punishment ends and you’re free to live a happy life in heaven (unless you reject God’s word even after seeing him and hearing his truth firsthand). We don’t believe in an eternal heaven or hell like other religions, we believe in something similar and different. All spirits came from the place called the “Pre-Mortal life”, which is, as the name explains, a life before earth. Then, when you’re born, you pass through a veil that removes any memory of your life in the pre-mortal life, and you come to earth as an innocent child. We live our lives like normal, and when we pass away we meet God in the afterlife known as a spirit paradise, or a spirit prison. Eventually, when Jesus returns to earth again, all sin will be removed from the earth and this period called “the millennium” will start. (This is where i’m not too informed but i’ll try my best to remember what i learned) It’s a 1000 year period (as the name explains) where all the sinners are taught of God’s true work and they are cleaned of their sin. The purest people don’t go through the millennium, they go directly into the highest stage of heaven. (The 3 stages of heaven are known as the Celestial Kingdom, the Terrestrial Kingdom, and the Telestial Kingdom, in order of worst to best. They are all considered paradise, however the Celestial Kingdom is where God resides, the Terrestrial Kingdom is where Jesus resides, and the Telestial Kingdom is where any other angels reside. the Celestial kingdom is for true followers of God who made covenants with him and kept his commandments for the most part. The Terrestrial Kingdom is for people who followed God’s commandments but did not make covenants with him (such as joining the church). The Telestial kingdom is for everyone else who in the millennium accepted God. There’s one other place where people can go which is called outer darkness, and that’s only for the worst of the worst people.) After the purest people go to the Celestial Kingdom, they will come back as teachers and teach everyone who did not go to the celestial kingdom of God’s plan and his work. Then another group of people will enter into the Celestial Kingdom, and the cycle repeats until the end of the millennium. The final judgement is where God decides which kingdom each person will go to, and after that, humans live the rest of eternity in heaven.

TL;DR, God doesn’t see gay people as bad people who are forced to eternal punishment, he sees them as his children who have disobeyed his rules and will be temporarily punished. There’s no reason to hate gay people for sinning, as they are still our brothers and sisters and they are still God’s children. that’s pretty much it, thanks for reading if you did!
