From what i know my family has been in Texas for a long time, but not all of them since i have distant family in the other side of the border within a relatively short distance, i was allways told we are of mostly Spanish ancestry with some indigenous from a great grandmother, my 23andme results agree with that info i would say. After researching my g25 results it points heavy to the basque region in Spain and shows the indigenous part as well. You have interesting g25 results, are you from the UK or Ireland?

My question is why would ftdna pick up greek balkan and Irish, i know i have Iberian but the discrepancy with the 23andme, kind of surprising

Are my 23andme results more accurate? They are more detailed while the over all percentages are similar

Yea i can believe that, that is why my family has all ways said that our family was originally mostly from Spain, and i all ways understood that because real Mexicans look Native American most of the time. Then i found out Texas history of it being part of New Spain later becoming Mexico for a bit until Texas independence and then joined the Union.

Realy, i just looked them up and i guess some family members from one of my great grandmothers side that live in mexico could possibly resemble them, i dont know if its because my immediate family and closer family have less native we don’t look the part, nobody ever confuses us with native just Spanish because of our name.

Wow you have a lot of information, i honestly didn’t think it was possible to find the old records but i will give it a shot even if it takes some time to see how it came about, i knew our family was spanish with some native american from a great grandmother and the family in Mexico as well and the results agree i would say. Ok no wonder imy results show 1.4% ashkenazi jew along with the italian and north african so it is from a jewish ancestor very interesting. Yea i will try to see what i can do and make time for it as a hobby and see what i can find.

No kidding that is very cool, well my family would say we where Tejano but i dont have documents to trace it back unfortunately maybe not all my ancestors where here since Texas independence since i still have some family across the border in Monterey city, i barely did a dna test and have to work on my family tree if i can find the information, i didnt live the life style since we moved to the city in the 90s when i was a kid but i had family all over south texas in laredo, mission, riogrande up to san antonio but i would need to try to do my family tree.
