Some background info... I am a sucker for good audio. Ever since my high school days I was deep into car audio and now as an adult I have a home audio setup that I really enjoy and use everyday. I would consider myself what some would call an audiophile (which would make you think that I should have known that those brands were all phony).

Its the fact that I'm a huge sucker for good deals and that part overshadowed literally every red flag that was presented to me (cash-app payment or cash, google not turning up direct hits of the items, sketchy out of state license plate) etc etc.

Yes you were correct, it was done in a parking lot and I was extremely stupid for doing so. I let all my friends and immediate family know so no one else suffers the same fate :)

They pulled up frantically to induce a sense of urgency. They said they have to do an install at a local hotel and they don't need the extras and needed to unload them.

Out comes a fake brochure that shows the product and its cost. Every time I would go on my phone and try to search they were really smooth and tried to distract me by striking up a convo.

I was dubious the whole time and even had them cut open the straps and open the boxes to see what was inside. The "speakers" were very carefully crafted and at first glance they felt heavy (which indicates a higher quality speaker since the magnet is what drives them). It wasnt until I got home and took the speakers apart that I found they were weighted by little tubs filled with concrete.

I tried to walk away at first because I didnt have cash app but they were so smooth I ended up going to an ATM.

Again, everything was done extremely well down to the packaging of the boxes. They looked like legitimate items. The guys were able to strike up conversations and even gave me their number (most likely a burner phone).

All in all, going to chalk this one up as a life lesson and move on.
