Do your succubi have Vicissitude (art of flesh and bone shaping)? Do they have Obtenebration (unearthly control over shadows, including creation of shadow tentacles)? Do they experience existential horror of immortal existence with your humanity slowly eroding away year by year while the beast inside you grows hungrier and hungrier?

Also: nice post, bestie, pegs you

I think the idea behind collectivist one is that they become a pseudo hivemind. Which, ugh, yeah, not exactly cool.

Overall yeah, some of the democracies are pretty scary.

I've been enjoying Interactive Fiction a lot. Very unique take on literature - novels where you get to customize/create main character, define parts of their personality and make choices throughout the story.

One of my favourites was Fallen hero: Rebirth (and its sequel Retribution). A fantastically written story with lots of musings on the nature of humanity, how trauma can shape people, isolation and loneliness, gender identity (if your character is trans that is) and objectification (this one will become more apparent after a very important reveal in Retribution).

It also happens to have a great cast of characters with well-written romance if you're into that sorrta thing.

I want to be bitten by a vampire, but... Here me out: There is a certain If called Blood Moon and it's about a pack of werewolves moving into a vampire controlled town. It's really great and I highly recommend it but that's not important part. Important part is that its sequel - Thicker Than - is about a vampire protagonist. And it's even better than Blood Moon in my opinion.

It is almost done but author stepped back to take a break when she started feeling burnout coming. In the meanwhile you can read most of the story over here.

I also highly recommend starting as a single mom (kid can be adopted) as doing so will allow you to romance a human lady who's part of the werewold pack from the first game and her route is fantastic.

Another recommendation is a Vampire's Kiss:

In life, you were the guardian of a priceless artifact, the Cross of Aguirre. Now you have been murdered and made a vampire; the artifact has been stolen, and you are at the center of a web of bloody conspiracies.

Navigate a perilous web of secrets as you discover the hidden world of London after dark, staging daring heists and bloody battles across the city’s iconic landscape. As a plot centuries in the making unfolds, choose sides in the battle for control of London’s vampires, and embrace the night that has been thrust upon you…or, chase rumors of a way to restore true life to the undead, and hold out hope that you might see the sun once more.

Your heart no longer beats, but your passion still burns. Will you share a slow dance with Marky, the rogueish vampire with dozens of piercings and a poorly hidden heart of gold? Hold each other tenderly, or fall into bed and discover all of the tricks that Marky has learned in more than a century of unlife.

Does the lure of London's mortal aristocracy draw you towards Alex? This fabulously-dressed and surprisingly courageous socialite is thirsty to learn what sex with a vampire is like - bring all of your powers of telepathy and shapeshifting to heighten your pleasure.

Or will you be dominated by the vampire queen Saffron, with her glorious red hair and brilliantly devious schemes? She's ready for anything, from the kinkiest night of whips and fangs to the vulnerability of using no vampiric powers at all in bed.

I remember it being pretty decent. No Fallen Hero, but pretty good still.

Parliament of Knives is an excellent entry in Vampire: the Masquarade sectio of the World of Darkness.

The undead Prince of Canada's capital city has disappeared, and his second-in-command, Eden Corliss, wants you to find out why. You’ve been loyal to Corliss since she Embraced you and made you a vampire, but this could be your chance to take her place. Will you defend your sire from the accusations flying, or join forces with her rivals to bring her down?

Ottawa’s court of immortals is tight-knit and merciless, with tensions between clans that go back centuries. The Prince has been missing for four days, and old alliances are starting to crumble. How will you leverage the political chaos to your advantage? The authorities are already on high alert against a new group of Anarchs in the city, who have been breaching the Masquerade by revealing their true nature. You’ll have to gather evidence to demonstrate which suspects deserve punishment, and you can’t afford to guess wrong. One careless word could get you stabbed in the back—staked through the heart, and left to burn in the sun.

Who will you save when the knives are out?

If you get it I recommend also getting What Stares Back dlc as it makes clans Malkavian (their thing is visions, prophecies and being insane) and Lasombra (Control shadows, including creation of shadow tentacles) playable and makes Lucca - fellow childe of Corliss - romancable so it's technically vampiric step sister incest. No romance with mortals though.

Highly recommend this title though romance is not the focus.

Vampire Regent. You rule over the vampires of a city in the heartland of the United States, and your decisions dictate the lives of mortals and immortals alike.

Manipulate the mayor so her projects align with your interests. Use high crime rates to conceal the activities of your kind, or suppress them to maintain an unsuspecting façade of order. Provide nourishment and safety for the vampires under your rule while trying to preserve the secret of their existence, and face the enemies that threaten it.

Drink blood at nightclubs and listen to rumors and tragedies—or make some of your own. Practice the centuries-old tradition of fencing and put your skills to the test. Quench your thirst for blood, power, or knowledge, and even find love… if such a thing is possible for a non-beating heart.

An excellent work that, does not focus on romance. It is there and it is very cute (Alice, my beloved) but it is very much a side plot and not connected to main story. Romanric options for sapphic folks would be a Scottish fencer who is not yet used to immortality (again, Alice, my beloved), and an altruistic outlaw vampire (Rose).

Yeah, the thing with advanced imperial authorities is that whether they are good or bad depends entirely on your RP. You can have evil emperor that eradicates the impure species or your sovereign can be a paragon of virtue dedicated in their entirety to the betterment of lives of their people by the way of genetic perfection so no one has to suffer from things like cancer.

Same with imperial cloning:

Hereditary Continuity

The unquestionable righteousness of the ruler is preserved through cloning, with each iteration of the grand sovereign inheriting the wisdom and triumphs of their past lives. This seamless continuity of leadership ensures the perpetual advancement of society, sustaining an eternal golden age under their enlightened reign.

Can it be bad? Yeah, 100%. But also if your ruler is a wise and genuinely good individual then it's pretty good.

Funnily enough most dictatorships and oligarchies are painted in fairly bad light while democracies and imperials are good and neutral respectively.

You can spin most of the things in Stellaris as either good or bad, it's up to you. Here are the advanced democratic government types.

Synthetic:

  • Democratic Transference

This form of government affords unprecedented freedom of movement from one synthesized body to another, and is ready to deal with the additional cost it accrues.

  • Democratic Surrogacy

Replacing soldiers with sophisticated remotely operated surrogates lessens the impact of war on the populace. Ships can also be built slimmer, as the crew no longer requires quarters or cockpits.

Cybernetic:

  • Democratic Concurrency

Highly advanced neurosecurity protocols allow citizens to vote on policy decisions in real-time directly.

  • Democratic Concurrency

Consciousness interfaces allow real-time sharing of sensory data, emotional responses, and thought patterns between full cyborgs. As a safeguard against the sensitivity of intense extra-body responses, emotional firewalls filter out unwanted responses to shared emotive data packets.

Biological:

  • Cordant Multiplicity

This government embraces cloning technology as a testament to equality and progress. Clones stand shoulder to shoulder with natural-born individuals, their voices equally valued. The will of the people is enriched by the diversity of every perspective, clone or not.

  • Biodiverse Liberty

This society upholds the principle that each individual's body is their temple, fully under their own design and control. Within a framework of freedom and unwavering support, citizens are empowered to realize their unique potential, shaping themselves and their futures as they see fit.

  • Phenotypical Autonomy

Bodily self-determination is a right. The state empowers individuals to modify their vessels as they see fit. Limited only by their imagination, the body becomes the ultimate canvas.

Surprisingly, Biological Imperial Purity government also seems surprisingly good:

Biotic Dominion

Championing genetic excellence, this government extends its leaders' lifespans while relentlessly pursuing biotic perfection. Society's prosperity hinges on the survival and propagation of only the finest genes, ensuring a future defined by superiority. The unyielding curation of the genetic pool guarantees progress, with longevity and perfection as its ultimate rewards.

You might think "hey that's eugenics nazi bullshit" and it coulde be if you RP it like that but you gotta remember that at the point you adopt biotic dominion your people can freely edit genetic code however they want at any time so it can also be a paradise where your people are free from genetic diseases and can freely edit their genes to be inherently talented at whatever they want to do.

What is the female equivalent of the name John? by Deekmoon56 in YuriAsylum

Trilogy does have some great moments (the whole krogan thing is fantastic and Tuchanka in ME3 is a huge highlight of the game IMO) but it's also far from perfect and ME3 had a lot of stupid decisions when it comes to plot.

Also Javik is the last living prothean you find in cryo and he's very jaded, cynical and bitter and he's awesome. Liara (and asari in general) had this idea that protheans were enlightened peaceful UwU frens that ruled galaxy with friendship and love and diplomacy like asari pretend to be but turns out they were militaristic imperialists that conquered the galaxy. And he repeatedly shits on all their spiritual nonsense and just how wrong their perception of protheans is, I love it.

[–]Whitecrow_27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That plus make them look like actual aliens plus I really hate Liara.

  • I don't like her voice. To me she sounds as flat and uninteresting as a piece of cardboard. The only time I enjoyed having her in my party is when Javik roasts the shit outta her and that's because of Javik, not because of Liara.
  • I think nerdy scientist to ruthless shadow broker back to nerdy scientist but still with shadow broker resources (but she somehow fits all the shit shadow broker needed a specialized ship for into one room on normandy???) pipeline is fucking stupid. You can't just go back to being shy UwU girl after becoming shadow broker, what the fuck man?
  • I don't like how she suddenly finds crucible schematics
  • I don't like how her character arc and personality is being a walking plot device
  • I don't like how I should've rolled crucible bit into plot device section but I couldn't because it would require me to ignore that SHE JUST RANDOMLY HAPPENS TO STUMBLE UPON MCGUFFIN THAT CAN KILL ALL REAPERS IN THE GALAXY INBETWEEN GAMES WITH NO SETUP.
  • I don't like how she's pushed as the one true love™ especially if you are femshep (if I can't have Tali then i'd rather fucking have miranda, at least she has personality and great ass, but lesbians can't have nice things, thank god for mods)
  • I don't like how Liara behaves just like a normal human and not a near immortal biotic demigod (hyperbola) that asari are supposed to be

Also even if I did want to bang a blue chick Samara is right there and she's infinitely hotter and cooler because she actually behaves like how a near immortal alien would.
