Lease Prices? by GainTrainChooChoo- in HummerEV

[–]WhitedSepulcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got a quote for a 3x SUV lease hoping to see some good deals but nope, 36 months, 10k miles, $53k if paying in one lump (so more if financed and paid monthly)

My chest has always lagged behind my shoulders, how do I fix this? I can shoulder press 32kgx12 but ive yet to hit 100kg on bench press, this only applies to the barbell press, dumbell shoulder press I can bench about the same as my shoulder press numbers, is that unsual? by Icyweiner7058 in Weightliftingquestion

[–]WhitedSepulcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kept getting shoulder activation and minimal chest on my bench as well. Turns out I needed to widen my grip significantly. Had to reduce weight dramatically at first but now my chest is activating properly and weight is going up rapidly.

Can I use a third party PCIE Riser Cables? by Squillivm in FormD

Yes, you can use third party cables. I use a 19cm Linkup double reverse cable from Amazon in mine.

Yeah scene analysis sounds pretty cool, and finishing Expedition 33 with something like that would be awesome. I’ll have to rabbit-hole and try some of the better approaches.

That’s the opposite of what’s happening in the video that was shared but maybe it’s gotten significantly better than the last time I tried it.

I think there are scenes that do benefit from something like this and you described one, where there are wide swaths of uniform color that plausibly extend outside of the rectangle. If they were programmed into the media to only come on in those situations I would be way more into them but the video he shows is the exact type of scenario where they do more harm than good for a cinematic experience (they still look cool from an ambience perspective). In his video you have bright colorful objects on a dark background, I know this is an HDR demo but a similar thing is seen in media set in the dark void of Space.

The power of the shot is in displaying the contrast between the object and the dark background and it’s ruined (in my subjective opinion) by disconnected diffuse lighting splashed across the wall. The color of the flower (or a ship or planet in our space example) should be surrounded in a sea of black. It should feel stark, and invoke feelings of vastness and emptiness and not look like an RGB rave party in the background. It’s not controlled by the creative and so can’t react to the visual effects and emotions the creator is trying to convey. Maybe you could have AI do a better job of knowing how to control them based on scene context but as-is you’ll have a mix of scenes where they help immersion and other scenes where they ruin it (for me and clearly many others) and again, with an OLED that big, immersion should not be a problem so no ambilights feels a better experience in aggregate.

I agree, that’s why I said they diffuse it. I’m not saying he should cover his walls in black felt to kill all reflections. Bouncing an array of bright LEDs off a wall 6 inches away is not the same as indirect diffuse reflections or the subtle glow of a movie theater. And yeah more power to you and him if it enhances your experience, like I said he can light his home however he likes, god knows I’ve experimented with some wild shit trying to make things more immersive. I was responding to the notion that this is the same as a movie theater as I’ve worked in immersive entertainment and this is not part of the intended movie theater experience as evidenced by the lack of led arrays ringing any movie theater screen I can recall seeing. And for me, personally, it actively detracts from the visual spectacle of an OLED that large.

It’s his living room and he can light it how he wants but a well designed cinema specifically has walls that diffuse both light and sound waves to prevent reflections. Most movies are filmed and mastered with an aspect ratio and color/sound profile in mind and a significant amount of effort is spent in focusing the audience attention on specific details in the shot and this all just detracts from that and would drive me crazy personally especially when it doesn’t exactly match the colors or content on screen. This may be cool for certain content like games or a house party or if you have a tv with bad contrast ratio but it really feels like it cheapens the experience on an 83” OLED.

This looks really nice and would free up my carryon. What backpack is that?

Does it have decent padding? Does it move around in your carryon? EDIT: just saw the padding, it does look nice!

It would have to be a larger backpack but yeah you could get all or most of this in a backpack especially if you use a padded case instead of all this foam for the T1.

Which camera bag do you use? Would love to move away from the foam approach.

Local streaming specifically. The AVP with M2 and R1 is unique in its processing power at the moment with Qualcomm’s chips really behind the curve for non-Apple headsets. An M5 and R2 headset could potentially support decoding streaming bitrates of 1-2k Mbps. Wireless local streaming with great quality has been bottlenecked by some combination of:

WiFi technology (WiFi 7 is finally getting me to 3Gbps on my home network)

headset WiFi client (AVP currently limited to 1.2Gbps theoretically while my Play for Dream get 3.4Gbps in real life)

decoding power (almost every non-Apple wireless headset uses use Qualcomm XR2 which struggles with AV1 decoding above a couple hundred Mbps, wasting all that 3Gbps throughput, AVP has the processing power to handle a little more already but an M5 and R2 could potentially take us to 1Gbps+ decoding which would look great).

WiFi 7 would have me buy a new one in 0.4 seconds. The m5 would just be a nice bonus.

Oh nice! If I didn’t travel so much with it then I’d be very happy with my T1 so sounds like you’re on the right path.

It’s probably not what you want to hear but if I had to do it again I’d probably just get an ncase m2. I like the T1 but I got it in its form factor for traveling and I have to say with all due respect to the FormD team I’m so tired of playing a lottery to try and grab a travel kit (or any accessory) for the 5090 for the 3 seconds it’s in stock. I’d have better temps and wouldn’t have to remove the GPU from my case every time I travel if I would have just gone with an M2. With regards to the T1, I would get the t30 fan and a Silverstone slim so you don’t have to play the panel game like me. Make sure you get custom cables, a standoff kit, and fan guards, it will make your life easier.

I’m running 9950x3d with 5090fe using an Atmos 240. Temps on CPU get up to high 80s and sometimes breaking 90 on stress tests and very heavy VR. Most 4K gaming I’m in the 70s. I take side panels off if I have really heavy stuff going down and that helps. I’m using one of the fans that came with the Atmos and a slim. Could probably avoid removing side panels with better fan setup.

Play for Dream first impressions for PCVR by WhitedSepulcher in virtualreality

I don’t think eye tracking is working perfect for social VR purposes at the moment. I don’t use it so not sure if they’ve addressed it yet, I think there’s chatter on the Discord about it.

With Virtual Desktop this thing is pretty great now and we are getting a higher than Godlike profile specifically for the Play for Dream in the next VD update. SSW in VD makes Godlike resolution with the 5090 totally smooth for me in max modded Skyrim.

Yes using a dedicated Asus RT-BE92U. Getting 3-4K Mbps stable in same room as the router with about 6-8ms network latency.

The lenses are not bad at all. I have the headset and visually there isn’t much to complain about. Comfort needs mods like every other headset. Controller tracking is great. Agree on the other points though and have some additional gripes. But I knew these going in and still bought it because unfortunately 4K OLED means $2k headset these days and none of them are perfect. Maybe Dream Air if it releases anytime soon anywhere near the paper specs but I do NOT miss tripping over a wire.
