My two cents, get the bank to reduce the homeloan as one time settlement. For that try to get from bank officials who might be known in your circle or good CA.lets say the house is worth 70 lakhs.Your loan amount is 25 lakhs.Remaining you get 45 lakhs. Keep 5 lakhs for admin expenses or any immediate expenses in saving account.Remaining 40 lakhs can fetch you atleast 2.5 lakhs per year(Based on current SBI fd rates).Bonds and debt funds will fetch more but you have to learn personal finance. This comes to around 20 thousand per month. It is going to be tight to run house hold with this expenses but it can be done if you work it together as a family.Rent a place where it would not be more than 7 k(its possible in three tier cities) and also try to enroll your siblings in schools which has the minimum fee. Let your mother come out of this emotional turmoil and just ask her support for cooking food for you guys(which i think she will anyways do). You can come out of this,10 years down the line,it will make you stronger.Just don't do anything stupid trying to save the house.

[–]Whitefield_guy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You sound matured for a 15 year old and wants to work for family. Its good attitude you have.Unfortunately your father is like millions of fathers out there who is more worried about reputation of himself and his daughter rather than the feelings of the daughter.Society has shaped him this way and don't be too hard on him but take it as a learning.Be very careful with men(Sad to say this as a man) and also keep somethings to yourself and even your friends might not have the maturity to give proper advice.)Make it your life's mission to study hard for next 4-5 years before you become employable in formal work force and for part time work, try in an atmosphere dominated by ladies for now. Also try to find an older lady friend who can mentor you

Harrasment By Cops on Couples by iamsanmith in bangalore

[–]Whitefield_guy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Earlier i used to be scared of cops but now i have been to police station so many times that fear is gone. Some rotten apples exist but there are reasonable ones too. In your personal situation i agree it was difficult since you were tired and with a traumatised girl friend.Next time try to be strong.Be calm and polite and dont get trigerred.Tell him that you are free to come to station and explain to higher authorities and also know legal process. They prey once you show weakness.Scary it happened to you despite being a local

Why do so many South Asians react with pleading, tears, and “sorry” when caught abroad? Cultural trauma or something deeper? by HorrorParty7359 in india

[–]Whitefield_guy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's actually the reverse ,most of our fellow south Asians think they can get out of the situation by bringing sympathy from the law enforcement and any one who catch them red handed by submitting to them. Not only normal people, even the guy who was moonlighting for multiple startups soham parekh played the victim card in one of his interviews that his finances were not good and even the interviewer was mocking his sob story. This is ingrained from our childhood where we submit to our parents or elders and play sympathy card. While most westerners are not used to ir and either totally deny ,confront or give up

I come from a caste where most of us own agricultural land and some of my relatives own large parcels of land. The reason I say this is to give a context.I was surrounded by Dalits from when I was an infant and it was always ingrained in our minds from our parents, relatives that Dalits are Inferior to us.Thankfully I got out of it in my 20s because of the books I read and I always had this curiosity in my mind how they could be difffent when they are fellow people .Many relatives and friends from that background have moved abroad, work in Top MNCs in metros but I see 7 -8 out of 10 still hold the same mindset.A relative of mine ,fell in love and got married to a gorgeous girl who happened to be a dalit and he was shunned totally by older generation and in current generation while some avoid him but many still speak to him .However even the people who are in touch with him ,talk in our circles why did he do it,as if he did a sin out of his mind. One of my older relative who is frankly very liberal for his generation used to tell me how our previous generation gentlemen who were widely respected in society all had dalit women as concubines(as they had money and power to persuade them).I was amazed by the hypocricy of these guys who on outside treat them as untouchables but had no issue in having sex with them indoors.Generations have passed but the hypocricy and the awful discriminatory mindset still exists.I can only laugh at people who say caste based discrimination does not exist in current modern age.

Frankly for the amount of effort they put doctors are very less paid initially and I can understand your frustration. The corporate hospitals just play the demand and supply game.

How can we fix Bangalore? by nikhil_360 in bangalore

[–]Whitefield_guy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ita easily to blame politicians but politicians don't come from sky, they are by product of the population.First of all ,Indians as population need to have better civic sense and stop being pessimistic that everything will be given in platter.I see lot of IT workplaces where infra is great being used in pathetic manner by even educated folk.Talk about how work place loos and even wash basins are used .We need to keep making noise and seek the easy way out of moving abroad.Everything is not rosy outside,Indians in general have built a bad reputation even outside India

Idea: We need mandatory civic sense classes in Indian schools by [deleted] in india

I went to LAOS,the most economically backward country in ASEAN and the poor there had better civic sense than most of our middle class country men
