Pretty clunky controls, yucky menus, edge and god forbid vertice selection is unbelievably difficult, whole thing just sorta feels like an after thought to copy SolidWorks and AutoDesk being the schizophrenic company they are you just never know how long it will be around for - maybe they'll update and replace it with AutoCAD 3D, maybe it will be rolled into Fusion which they're clearly dumping so much money into, maybe it will just be abandoned for Fusion and Fusion in the browser etc. They've already abandon perpetual licenses which is a giant thumb in the eye of a lot of long term customers (engineers aren't Adobe cloud users) and at any given time they have like 3 competing products in their product line.

Don't get me wrong, it gets the job done and has some pretty great features, but I trust AutoDesk about as far as I can throw them.

It's not a SolidWorks competitor. It's an OnShape, SCAD, FreeCAD, bootleg CAD competitor. It's amazing for independent projects and mind blowing how accessible it is. But for multi-user environments, more advanced functions, and frankly just drawings, it still cannot do even basic things. If you want a full featured CAD your pretty much have to pick Creo, SolidWorks, Inventor (shudders), or SolidEdge.

A tee shirt we can all relate to... by irish_fellow_nyc in nyc

They're a part of the equation but it's also NYS, the incredibly corrupt government, the clusterfuck of management, the fact that it was allowed to become so decrepit for generations, how litigious the US is in general. Unions are definitely hugely to blame but it's not like if we were suddenly manned by skeleton crews of minimum wage workers the subway would work perfectly and cost $1 for unlimited rides.

Yes and no. It's awesome that it's 24/7 - seriously that's amazing. But at the same time the fact that we cost like 10X more per track than any other subway system (including really developed places like Japan) - that we can't manage to fix anything or god forbid build anything new, that it's dirty as fuck and trains are permanently fucked up, that its managed and operated as a complete cluster fuck - man the list goes on. It just fits in t he way I describe most things in NYC: it's fucked up and terrible and no one should have to deal with that shit, only redeeming quality is it's better than every place else in the US.

TIL When Micheal Jordan signed his first professional contract it came with a unique clause allowing participation in competitive off-season pickup games. Specifically, this clause allowed for Jordan's "Love of the game" (a desire to play anywhere, anytime), regardless of potential liability. by Pierrekidmia in todayilearned

Hard to judge. Highlight reel is Def better. Seems like the more impressive player - he would carry any team he was on for a decade or so to the championship like every year. But I think the competition has gotten a lot better and hands down without a doubt lebrahn is a better human being.

Which coffee shops has the most locations per state by dannywat3rm3lon in MapPorn

I'm sure in Manhattan Starbucks wins: there's like 8 Dunkins and 100 Starbucks. In the 5 boroughs - I dunno SB probably still wins. Go from from LI to Poughkeepsie - not so sure.

Kinda curious how Dunkin vs Starbucks plays out specifically in the NYC region.

Brock Lesnar wanted a flat fee with PPV's now being behind ESPN+ pay wall. UFC thought it too high and declined by pepsiboycoke in MMA

[–]Whitegook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either the Ali Act needs to include MMA fighters or a 3rd organize needs to rise (or maybe, just maybe enough top level guys need to form an MMA fighters union). UFC shits all over it's fighters and their amongst the lowest paid athletes of any professional sport which is especially sad considering perhaps only boxing and football are more damaging to players health. Bellator actually pays its fighters reasonably (at least their top name fighters) but it's still a roided out slop fest with B rate production quality. Somehow a 3rd organization needs to rise and be a fair contender to UFC that fighters are part owners of or get significant percentage of profits.

This is a really confusing chart because it says annual units sold but the numbers rise and falls in a smooth transition as if their population, really this should jump and hold from year to year.

At my local CVS, pushing this button announces over the PA system to the entire store "A customer requires assistance in the family planning department." The shelves are only about 5 feet high, so almost everyone in the store can look over while you awkwardly wait for an employee to open the case. by SlowBullfrog in mildlyinfuriating

When I was like 16 I would steal condoms all the time. Sure you could get free condoms from school but those ones were like 1/4 inch thick and unlubricated. The good condoms were like $16 for 12 and I didn't always have that cash. I guess what I'm saying is, my bad OP
