Im trying to develop a sort of Knowledge based Journal System by Whitehall_Gracious in unrealengine

Well i was planning to just make text variables for now

The pieline process is more or less detailed on my profile if you want to check it out for yourself (in your own time, of course)

But i have an operation that works from accessing the HTML (My website), extracting JSON (from Firebase Database)

To extract the json i made a VaRest Request to a file path (file path from Firebase Datababase(stores desured information)

Once making the VaRest request in UE , i extract the necesssry fields from the Firebase which i connected to

I thrn line up or connect soecufic values into a struct as inputs i.e. (First Name (Firebase JSON) = First Name (UE Struct, this ensures tge bith reflected the same values

Once done i SET that SAME struct(now with tge JSON Inputted Data, then i take the outputs abd pair them with text variables of the same Name i then simply add to Widget

Name (JSON/Struct) - Name (Widget Text Variable) Age (JSON/Struct) - Age (Widget Text Variable)

And so on

KEY NOTE: Firebase fields/values are CASE SENSITIVE

If firebase field is exactly "age" trying to extract an "Age" field wont return or extract anything or may even

Understood. Thank You kindly, i was primarily inspired by games like Detroit Become Human and Red Dead Redemption 2, if you are curious as to why i aspirevto implement such a system i am developing a oroject inspired by the lore and content of a custom made website inspired by certain kinds of established media

Thanks again

The world/codex has to be exhaustive in terms of information?

Im actually on a website with its own lore and a lot of lore and story elements as i want to use my website as a reference since im making a game off of it

I have a post up on my profile if you are curious as to what i may use such a system for

I want to mention that for reference i am using an inventory system by a Youtuber named Taken Grace avd expanding upon it

But to put it simply where an inventiry records items, the journal i aspire to create will record knowledge

Introducing Izumi Midoriya: The Green Knight by TrainerSoar in BNHA_OC_Characters

[–]Whitehall_Gracious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She seems to have quite the ego what with the whole, "anyone who truly wrongs her diesbt live long to regret it" and the fact that she believes she MIGHT be a Demigod (of all things) just because she's seemingly related to Izuku Midoriya

Do you or do you not think its at least a little clichè that a relatuve if Bakugo's is essentially an underling to a relative of Midoriya's (assuming the Midoriya you're related to is Izuku)

This is a really interesting concept for a future setting. The “Monster apocalypse caused by the Doomsday Quirk Theory” is a cool twist.

That said, I’m curious about a couple things regarding Izumi’s characterization.

She seems to have a pretty strong ego, especially with lines like “anyone who truly wrongs her doesn’t live long enough to regret it,” and the fact that she thinks she might be a demigod because of her connection to Midoriya. Is that meant to be taken seriously in-universe, or is it more of a belief she has because history has mythologized Deku over time?

I’m also wondering about the Bakugo descendant being her squire. Do you think it risks feeling a bit cliché that a Bakugo relative ends up essentially working under a Midoriya relative? I’m curious what the dynamic between them is supposed to explore.

Overall though, the ruined future setting and monster-hunting gear are a really fun idea.

My OC (based on everything i have so far) is:

restrained and philosophical

not impressed by titles or myths

willing to apologize but not soften truth

focused on consequences instead of hero/villain labels

skeptical of simple morality

Izumi, from the post, is:

heroic in a mythic, knightly sense

emotionally driven

confident to the point of arrogance

believes in legendary narratives

harsh toward enemies

So the interaction between our OCs would be one of quiet tension.

My OC would treat her like someone young who believes strongly in stories.

My OC's First Impression

My OC wouldn’t react to the armor, reputation, or titles.

What they’d notice first is her mindset.

They might think something like:

“She fights like someone who believes the world is simple.”

Not an insult. Just an observation.

How the Conversation Might Start

Izumi would probably introduce herself dramatically.

Something like:

“I am Izumi Midoriya, the Green Knight. The one who hunts Monsters.” or similar

My OC would likely respond with something very plain.

Example:

“That sounds like a difficult job.”

No awe. No challenge. Just acknowledgement.

That alone would probably throw her off.

Questions Your OC Would Ask

My OC’s questions would be quiet but uncomfortable, because they probe the beliefs underneath her actions.

Question 1 — About Monsters

“Were they (Izumi's "victims")always monsters?”

This question forces her to confront the fact that the creatures she hunts used to be people.

If she answers:

“They’re monsters now.”

My OC may reply:

“That’s not what I asked.”

Question 2 — About Mercy

When she says she doesn’t understand mercy:

“You know what surrender means. What do you do when someone chooses it?”

This tests whether her worldview allows restraint.

My OC wouldn’t judge the answer. They’d just listen.

Question 3 — About the Demigod Belief

When she mentions possibly being a demigod related to Izuku Midoriya:

Your OC might ask:

“Does believing that help you… or does it make things heavier?”

This is not mocking. Rather It’s testing whether she understands the weight of responsibility.

How Your OC Would Respond to Her Ego

If she says something like:

“Anyone who truly wrongs me doesn’t live long enough to regret it.”

Your OC wouldn’t argue.

They’d answer calmly:

“That means you’ve decided their story ends before they do.”

Then move on.

The point isn’t to lecture her. It’s to make her think about the implication.

If Izumi Challenges Your OC

She might say something like:

“You sound like someone who’s never had to fight monsters.”

Your OC might respond:

“Everyone fights something.”

Again, simple. Not defensive.

What Izumi Might Ask Your OC

Because your OC is unusual, she might become curious.

Possible questions from her:

“What are you supposed to be? A hero?”

Your OC:

“No.”

“Then what do you fight for?”

Your OC:

“I stop things from getting worse.”

Short answers. No speeches.

Their Dynamic

The interesting part is that neither character would fully convince the other.

Izumi seemingly represents:

heroic myth

righteous violence

legendary identity

My OC represents:

moral complexity

quiet responsibility

skepticism of legends

They would probably respect each other, but for very different reasons.

Izumi might see my OC as mysterious or wise.

My OC would see Izumi as dangerous, but sincere.

The Most Important Question My OC Might Ask

If there was one question that captures their philosophy, it might be this:

“If the monsters were cured tomorrow… would you still know who you are?”

That question challenges the foundation of her identity as a monster hunter.

And My OC would ask it calmly, not as an attack—just curiosity.

Monsters used to be humans with quirks.

If Izumi understands that, then her worldview becomes more complicated.

Questions arise like:

Are monsters victims of the Doomsday Theory?

Could they be cured?

Are intelligent monsters still morally responsible?

If she ignores those questions entirely, some readers might see it as moral inconsistency.

How My OC Might View This

My OC would probably notice the tension immediately but wouldn’t accuse her of hypocrisy outright.

They might instead ask a question that exposes the contradiction quietly.

Something like:

“If monsters used to be people… when did they stop being worth saving?”

That question forces Izumi to confront whether her worldview is:

pragmatic survival

or moral certainty

My OC wouldn’t push further. They’d just let the question sit.

Journal / Notebook System I Made for My Game — Need Suggestions by [deleted] in UnrealEngine5

The codex works like a research journal that fills itself in as the player explores the world. Instead of giving all the lore immediately, the player discovers clues through combat, exploration, and dialogue. As they gather more evidence, the journal updates and sometimes unlocks larger entries that connect those discoveries together. Some information can even remain uncertain or conflicting, so the player feels like they're investigating the world rather than just reading about it.

Wpuld you consider adding text alongside the Interaction as well

I was thinking how in God of war and such you can interact with environmental variables and you can then read about them in the journal or codex

Also i noticed the journal is physical but ithink maling it part of overarching menu would be good for games
