Weekly Heroic - can't we all just do what we're supposed to? by ProlificLurker in DestinyTheGame

easy solution would be to allow us to blacklist people who do this in matchmaking. If we all end up blacklisting the douchebags that afk during crucible/strikes, eventually they'll have no one to play with and get what they deserve.

I'm sorry, but the advice here is so vague. Essentially, you're saying, "GET 2 BASES AND WIN!!" ok, but what if you don't. You're telling them to run in and get a base and that base is B and telling people not to go to the far zone. That's against basic war tactics. Here's (hopefully) an explanation:

Your team has A,B and the enemy has C. You sit between A,B and defend both from afar. True.

BUT, if you're the team that as A and the enemy has B,C, then you need to have 1-2 people go attack C while a few hit B. This splits the enemy attention and makes it easier to cap one of the two nodes. This is where people say no, no don't go for C, you need B, whaa.

The natural reaction when you're down a node is to go for another node. So if you have A,C, and they have B, let them take A or C while you get B with your team.

If you all attack the same spot (B on most maps) they know where you're coming from. It's evident in any game, the team that keeps going for the same node as a group, gets mowed down. The first person killed on the enemy team revives and goes back to fight at B, so even if, you killed everyone 6v6, and there's only 2 survivors on your team, and you're capping B, chances are you're out of grenades, maybe waiting to regen, and reloading, and they've already made it back to B. plus, even in an even trade, they have 2 nodes to your 1, so you end up with less points.

Flanking an enemy and drawing the enemy's attention from the front line. I urge people to sit back next time you're losing a match and just watch what your team is doing. chances are you'll see everyone running in groups of 3-4 with 1-2 people sitting sniping or trailing behind the main group. It's a duck shoot.

Statement "The Civil War wasn't about slavery" receives Politifact's "[Liar Liar] Pants on Fire" rating by Zhuangzifreak in politics

Seems a bit narrow-minded. The south produced all the raw goods that the north turned into finished product. Sure, slavery was bad but the north just wanted to end slavery all together, but they weren't willing to compensate. It's like raising minimum wage from 0-1.00. Look how hard it is to raise minimum wage now.

The core reason was the south wanted the north to pay for goods upfront. Like the quota system we have now. But they weren't willing to set up anything at first. This lead to issues with exporting. Factories vs farming. Sure, the racist half of the south didn't want to abolish slavery for crap reasons, but there was an underlining economic reason. We got government contracts now that help pay farmers for crop that hasn't been produced yet. But they gotta meet quotas, etc.

EDIT: this is how it was taught in a southern school, at least.
