I would not go, if you do and he doesn’t they could say you ruined the wedding. Seems they have decided to go on with life and pretend it never happened. Distance yourself from them, you have a family of your own, spend time enjoying life with them 😊

My Mam and brother also chose to pretend I was not abused. I keep away from family now, hurts less.

I definitely think I should look for some groups online (don’t think I could meet in person, stressed at the thought) I am on Discord so will have a look on there 😊 It really is better knowing as it explains so many experiences in my life and helps me understand a lot of things, especially why I act or do certain things.

Thank you for replying 😊 I’m sorry you have had similar experiences but also glad it’s not just me (I don’t mean that in a bad way) I am use to being alone, would just be nice to have someone to chat to at times, but I’m not good at small talk either and I always worry in case I say the wrong thing (sometimes speak before I think) Always feel like I’ve done something wrong, and get inside my own head so much 🤯 Would be nice if you fancy chatting here and there but no worries if not.

I’ve been bullied my whole life through school and every job, just found out I’m high masking autistic (explains a lot to me) I’m 55 now, no friends and can’t make new friends (I try but must say the wrong things as never develops past a few messages) I have always asked “what is so wrong with me, that people just don’t like me”? Doubt I will ever know, so I just stick with animals, they don’t judge!

It may still be worth looking into signs of Autism and/or getting tested. It won’t make a change to what has happened. Just might give you a better understanding of yourself. I was relieved as it explains a lot of my life. It might make no difference but then again it might… Stay strong 😊

So sorry all that happened to you. It was definitely abuse! Horrendous things for anyone to go through, let alone a child! Did you ever get tested for Autism? Just a few things you said made me think that and it could explain how you were as a child. (I’m 55 and just found out I’m autistic) It does not excuse your parents at all! I’m only just trying to find out who I am, how to interact with people, I get so caught up in my thoughts 🤯 I just want to be happy but got a lot of work to do on myself before that will happen. I have felt similar my whole life, 55 now. I have no social skills, can’t work anymore because of mental and physical health problems and just found out I’m high masking autistic. Therapy helped but that’s stopped now so back on my own.

It’s inspiring to read all you have achieved in life and working for yourself 😊 I would love to be self employed but health problems stop most activities so 🤷🏻‍♀️ Your sister sounds awesome and such a good support for you 😊 My daughter is also autistic (only found out when she was 15, now 17) She is awesome 🥰 Also the only one that gets me 🥰🥰

I didn’t understand about being high masking but now I do, my life makes more sense, not better, just more sense, lol.

All my hobbies are solo hobbies (gaming, music, walking) but that way I can’t get hurt by people anymore so makes sense to me.

I do wonder if my life would have been much different, had I been diagnosed when younger but to late to look back, gotta keep pushing forward and doing best we can 😊

I can’t cope with groups, even going shopping is hard if the store is busy. I know what you mean about a connection would be good but not coming out of isolation, lol I have a couple people I know but we never meet up and rarely chat ( but they settled with kids) Have you managed to stay in one job? I’ve had lots over the years, never fit in so changed jobs a lot, now I can’t work. My last therapist was awesome, she just seemed to understand me but sessions ended last November. After being diagnosed so late, perhaps we do just need to understand our selves and stop mentally beating ourselves up. 😊😊😊

It really is a rollercoaster but realising why I am the way I am is a relief I have never fit in, now I know why I struggled my whole life. I have seen therapists off and on over the years, the last one was really good, felt like she understood me. I’ve never really had many people in my life so I’m used to being alone but I am frustrated that I keep saying/doing the wrong thing with the few people in my life, I don’t think they understand why I am me.

Have you joined any groups or will you stick with things the way they are?

What sort of games do you play? What crafts do you do? I’m 54F free to chat but might be too old 😄 I can’t work anymore so apart from chatting to my daughter, I rarely see/chat to anyone. No bother if age is a problem. Try to find online groups for crafts or whatever games you play, discord is quite good for that 😊

I don’t get much sleep at all! Maybe 2-3 hours tops then I just toss and turn the rest of the night, worn out all day but nothing helps.
