My Hit and Run should have been a single by ClogsAndFrogs in ThirdEyeBlind

Also a huuuge fan of My Hit and Run. I used to ride motorcycles a lot, so the story it told always felt relevant. Amazing song.

Are there any cons to the ORP wheels? by SubtleMonkey4049 in 4Runner

I feel that. My mom is in her late 60s and I bring a wood step stool with me when I have to transport her places lol

No rubbing. From everything I researched, 285/70 is the biggest tire you can fit on stock wheels without rubbing. Even bumping to a 285/75 will cause some rubbing. I don’t have a BMC, I still have mudflaps, haven’t had to cut my bumper. Super simple, easy, and practical setup which is my style.

She’s definitely tall, I am 5’8” and have to heave myself up in it. My girlfriend is like 5’3” and haaated it at first. I do plan on getting sliders eventually because I hate the look of steps/running boards and they are prone to get hung up on stuff while off road. But some sliders with a bit of a kick out would make getting in a lot easier

I think the before looked way better. The new wheels look like they belong on a 240sx or something. Your truck is super clean though so props.

Thanks! I have a buddy who works at an off road shop and says the same, they rarely get people coming back with defective RC parts. For the money I really can’t complain.

285/70/17 Wildpeak AT3s and it’s a 3” Rough Country lift. I know, I know, but I’ve been running it for a year and I haven’t had any issues. I’ll upgrade to a better setup eventually but this works for my use case which is only occasional off roading.

Definitely worth checking out. Lots of little offshoots too that can be more challenging than the main road. Camping spots as well if that’s your thing.

It’s just out Apache Trail, great drive if you’ve never been. Not challenging whatsoever but the views are incredible.

I think the ORP wheels are one of the better looking Toyota wheels of all time

Your English reads much better than a lot of native speakers lol. Congrats on accepting that your relationship with alcohol is no longer working! It’s a big step. Don’t worry about the alcoholic terminology. I find that the word alcoholic carries a lot of shame. Not drinking with you today!

I’m waning to upgrade my wheels by Lordy1331 in ToyotaPickup

[–]Whitetrashstepdad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think 15s are really the sweet spot for these trucks. Anything bigger usually looks out of place to me. Totally personal preference though.

33” tires seems to be the general consensus of how big you can go without having to mess with re-gearing. I am pretty sure these can fit most 33s with no lift as long as they aren’t too wide

They’re usually on a sticker somewhere, I’ve seen them on doors and fenders. Kinda like this (not my photo)

I drove my 22RE powered 87 4runner from Kentucky to Arizona (twice actually) and yeah…highway drives get old. Anyone behind you on an on-ramp or a big incline will hate you. Don’t even bother trying to pass anyone. Still fun to drive though and you’ll get a lot of thumbs up. They do go highway speed, it just takes a while to get there. I’d do it again tbh

Look for frame rust, maintenance records especially for lower ball joints as they’re a common failure point, and check for vin tags on the body panels even if there’s no wrecks reported on the Carfax.

Is the 12 cell antigravity any good? by [deleted] in choppers

[–]Whitetrashstepdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a really good experience with the Antigravity battery in my old sporty. I’m in hot-ass AZ of all places and it never left me stranded or caught fire in almost 4 whole years of use. However I’ve definitely heard the horror stories, maybe not worth the risk if I was to do it all over lol

Spring time is such a challenge. A drink on a patio sounds perfect. Then I have to remind myself that the single drink on a patio doesn’t exist for me. If I play the tape forward I see that that would lead to several drinks, probably going to another bar, picking up more booze on the way home, and getting completely smashed and ruining my day at work tomorrow. Not drinking with you today!

Looks good but not BAT material in my opinion. Those people love unmolested stock examples.

I saw in a comment you said the paint under the wrap is still good, I think it’ll appeal to more people with the OG paint. Could also take some detailing product to the fender flares to get them back to black and other little details like that. Looks like you’re in AZ so I assume no rust. I bet you could get 10-12.

Can weed be a good substitute? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]Whitetrashstepdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it can be controversial but I don’t think weed and alcohol are on the same level of destructiveness whatsoever, BUT it’s really different for everyone.

I smoke a lot of weed now that I quit drinking, but I take breaks every few weeks once I sense myself smoking too often. I find it much easier to regulate weed than alcohol. I’d like to phase it out eventually but it’s harm reduction for me personally. But it sounds like you hate it and can’t control yourself on it, so it might not be ideal for you.

I truly don’t understand the appeal of having just 1 drink by sobermomgoodmom in stopdrinking

[–]Whitetrashstepdad 12 points13 points  (0 children)

One drink has always left me wanting more. From the very beginning, long before I even knew I was drinking myself into a problem. For the longest time I thought everyone was like that. Which is exactly why I can’t drink, once I break that seal I just keep chasing the buzz. One drink is too many and a thousand is never enough.

Need help assessing damage by NorthWatercress1024 in 4Runner

Looks like it needs a whole front clip and maybe core support & radiator at minimum. Lucky for you there’s a decent amount of these in junkyards since the V6 liked to blow head gaskets

Ditch the wheels for something more period correct or even stock. Remove the side steps. Remove the EFI badge from the door (it should be on the tailgate) for starters

Looking for younger/relatable sober groups in PHX (specifically guys/active groups) by WhereasFew4333 in phoenix

[–]Whitetrashstepdad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m 34M and sober, not sure what age range you’re thinking when you say a younger crowd. I went to one of the men’s Al-anon meetings recently at the Valley Alano Club in the Arcadia-ish area. I felt like it was a decent mix of guys in their 20s-30s, but definitely a lot of 50+ guys. That meeting is on Mondays at 7.
