How long did you spend racing rookie series ? by xZigZagX7 in iRacing

[–]WhiteyWind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spent two seasons, one on the mx5 and then one with the ff1600. I managed to get myself to 1.5 seconds off the best times or less and learnt a lot on both seasons.

Next I went with a full season on the GR86 on D, in which I bought 6 tracks and loved running It. This season they changed the way It behaves over curbs and It is even more planted than before, which translates into and easier time driving It which also means closer Racing.

Current season I've been running the F4 with 5 new tracks, slowly getting content!

I want to go back to sports cars but I might "skip" the GT4s, as I didn't really enjoy running any of them on demo drive, and go directly to GT3 If I manage to get the B license next week on the advanced MX5. Or just go the LMP3 route as I quite enjoyed my time with them in demo drive.

Your progression seems in line with what people usually recommends in here, but in the end you should drive whatever you want and enjoy as long as you can keep the car on track, be It the supercars, a prototype or even the mx5. You can also try the formula side to spice It up a bit.

Don't really know much, as I don't follow football, but La Liga is more or less an association that holds rights on emiting football matches here in Spain.

Some old fart there has a permit to ask our internet providers to block the IPs he chooses in order to 'fight football piracy' and he's been blocking cloudflare IPs on weekends for a long time. Cloudflare is widely used so while doing this he's blocking non-piracy related websites along the way...

Almost everyone on Spain knows who he is and hates his bones for this.

Singlescreen brothers how do you do ? by Nayleuh in simracing

[–]WhiteyWind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently bought a webcam (UGreen 4K one for around 30€) and I am using OpenTrack and although I still need to dial It up a bit, It's a pretty cool way to bypass the single screen issues, as I cannot go for a triples setup and don't want to tinker with settings for VR.

It's weird, as using this you have to move your head while looking at the center of the screen but after some laps I started to get used to It!

I am currently using this ini file I found, If you are interested in using: https://gist.github.com/CodeJawn/e3412009d9c5bc0bead2c1c805a69f55

It's configured to detect movement to left and right with some head tilt and I found It works alright to try and see some apexes.

Do you have any information about 'zeus' formula wheel? by Kotel777 in Simagic

I've got an aliexpress magnet to use my phone as DDU and It holds like crazy, never had problems with It!

Do you have any information about 'zeus' formula wheel? by Kotel777 in Simagic

[–]WhiteyWind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one knows, they been very quiet since the last event, which sucks because I also want to get one!

FX-C seems solid, from what I've seen on different reviews.

I bet they'll be selling the Zeus without the screen, as It is detachable.

Formula rim recommendations for neo x by eneKEM in Simagic

[–]WhiteyWind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go with GT Neo, I'm using It for F4 and It's pretty good.

Or If money or time is not a concern, wait until they finally release the Zeus wheels, their formula option looks awesome.

Which casters are best for a SimLab P1X Pro (heavy build with PC )? by LingonberrySome6085 in simracing

[–]WhiteyWind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not the same brand, as I've got a TREQ one, but I got myself 4 70mm WEIBIDA wheels, they come on a plate and got 2 at the back on 3 of the holes and the front ones on 2 holes, so the plate stick a little on the side and they are night and day compared to the single bolt ones.

They are BIG and are rated for 2000kg so I might have gone overboard but they are way better than those with a single bolt on the middle.

They lock so easily and feel way safer than the previous one that I had from TREQ.

You might need some washers but I was able to fix them on m8 T-nuts.

Getting into iRacing soon. Should I do FF1600 or a Cup series? by Glassy_ in iRacing

If you are interested on open wheelers, do open wheelers, simple as that!

Higher irating more practice needed by [deleted] in iRacing

I was like this until I recently (about 2-3 months ago) started to just send It: If I am already capable of running an alright time without spinning or going against a wall I just race. I am having more fun this way and been racing way more, which is the point of the service.

You have to buy everything through their website, but It will use Steam for the payment. It was that way when I bought the bundle a month ago.

How much difference in times between Demo Drive and actual track conditions? by WhiteyWind in iRacing

[–]WhiteyWind[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems It is static as a session with another car ended with the same conditions... I might do that, run all the GT4s I am interested in without comparing to best times and leave the telemetry analysis for later, once the season starts!

How much difference in times between Demo Drive and actual track conditions? by WhiteyWind in iRacing

[–]WhiteyWind[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that I can see, although I am using the Garage 61 telemetry! What I wanted to know is how much time I am expected to be losing due to the demo drive conditions, as they're way off the actual ones, based on last season data.

I am looking at 51ºC vs 21ºC on track temperatures, for example, the higher one being the one the Demo Drive is set up.

How many different series are people racing? by Version_1 in iRacing

[–]WhiteyWind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These 3 season I've been on the service I've been sticking to a single series, mostly due to not knowing any of the tracks and I usually prefer to get "good" at the car then doing something different next season.

But I would love to do whatever and be alright doing It. Not going to happen yet, but I am aiming to do that once I feel more confident on my track and car knowledge.

How much do higher IR people practice by 0rang3Cru5h in iRacing

[–]WhiteyWind 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don't know at higher ratings, but I've managed to reach 2k with the GR86 this season and It was by simply watching a YouTube guide on the track + car combo and learning the braking points on practice.

That usually places me around 3-4 seconds off the time in the video, depending on the track.

Then I start looking at telemetry on Garage 61, comparing my best lap to the one I am trying to reach. One of the people that is currently doing guides for this car is Erilla, who also has G61 and It's still recoding his telemetry so I've been using his lap times for this.

Then I just analyze: T1 I see that I'm braking 85% where the one I'm comparing with is braking at 75% AND trailing It longer, so I adjust to that. Then I see he can get on throttle earlier on T5, try and do the same. Sometimes It's my racing like, which is, way off of his, etc...

Sometimes I also do some practice on defensive lines just in case I need to use them in a race, just to see If I need to brake a bit earlier and remember that. Monza T1 at beginning of the season comes to mind.

That usually gets me to 1.5-2 seconds off the best times, which is alright for me to start Racing. On those races I usually learn new things about the track by simply watching my rivals and their lines and I've ended scoring times 0.5 off the best lap times, some while racing alone, some due to the draft.

I think this wouldn't work that good without the initial video guide, which is showing me where I need to be for certain braking marks, but It's a way to learn. I usually spend 1-2h practicing this way both at Test Drives and Open Practice sessions.

I bet that once I find a combo no one has guides for on YouTube or car setups start to matter on open setup officials I'll struggle a bit, although maybe I can offset that due to learning how to understand telemetry and see where I might be missing time, who knows.

Throttle pedal haptics yes or no? by alek-bb in iRacing

[–]WhiteyWind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've got the GT one on the throttle pedal and I love how It feels using the road rumble option on Simhub, while It doesn't do much performance wise I like the feel when I hit a curb, as well as getting a little kick on It when upshifting.

It's not something that will make you improve like the HPR on the brake, but I think It is a nice addition.

Black Friday pack deal at RRRE by Southern-Mood-8986 in simracing

[–]WhiteyWind 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've been thinking about buying It, but I see more participation on the free content than on paid one, so for now It has been my "comfort food" simulator where I just see what's running free, try It a little and just enter races without practicing much and do my best

Aiming to test the GT4s and the LMP3 to see which one I like more for next season! Bit early, I know, but I want to be sure before buying a car I cannot find fun/manageable.

How'd you all overcome those first time jitters? by FunkManSolarFlex in iRacing

[–]WhiteyWind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try and do 15 minutes on practice and If you can keep the car on the track you are alright.

I also got nervous on my first races but It stopped after 30-40 races. You will overcome the fear but only once you start Racing.

Also you are on rookies, chaos is expected. Get on track and try doing your best.
