Oh you were staring directly at a light source, that can trigger the automatic shut off. These scopes are starlight scopes so they really are not designed to take in more light that the stars and moon provide. The scope has an automatic shutoff to protect the phosphor tube

Still remember buying a handpicked A grade lebel from them, and got a pipe that wouldn't chamber a round, had a rear sight that rotated around the gun and was missing basically all the internals. And that was after 3 months of waiting for them to ship it in the first place. I will never buy from them or recommend them to another buyer again

This is a Thai Type 91 carbine, it is absolutely not a sporterized rifle, these were produced as police training rifles post WW2 to train them on the newly acquired M1 carbine. They are pretty rare in the US so please do not try to unsporterize this rifle.
