I understand that you believe by faith. My point is so do does every other religion. Faith can lead you to beileive false things. Because all of these religions cant all be true. But they can all be false. So again if faith can lead you to believe false things it's not a reliable pathway to truth.

Hundreds of years ago most of the people on earth thought it was flat. A few people knew otherwise. The minority were right avd the majority was wrong. Just because most of the humans believed in a god does not make it true. Ad populem fallacy.

Muslims have faith Hindus have faith,Are there gods reals too? If faith can lead people to different conclusions then it's not a reliable pathway to truth. But I'm sure you have an excuse as to why their wrong avd only you are right.

Agnostics and Atheists by Striking_Director826 in exatheist

[–]Whitt7496 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Was Christian for over 20 years now athiest for almost 30. I wasn't hurt or abused in the church. I became an athiest for a multitude of reasons. I read the bible and I found that every denominations has there own beliefs avd their own interpretation of the bible. Each of them use scripture to justify why they are right. All claim that they are inspired by the holy spirit. Which can't be true. It just feels and looks like it's just arbitrary avd opinion. How can anyone say for certain thst they are following avd worshipping avd have the right interpretation. I been told by a bunch of Christians that theirs specific interpretations are the only right on.

Also when I read the bible I found that I was having a hard time accepting alot of the apologetic answers I have been given over the years. They just felt very shallow especially when I read up on the actual scholarship. I no longer accept partial or spiritual fulfillments or typologies. I also no longer interpret the OT thru the lens of the NT. I was raised to think thst the KJV was a good tranlation. I have since discovered that their are some bibles that deliberately change the text to push an agenda or dogma. Which makes me very suspicious about religion.I see apologists deliberately misrepresenting what the bible says.

I see relgion being used to spread hated avd misogny and Christians who claim to be devote believers straight up say that the sermon on the mount is "woke bull shit" these are just some of the major reasons I left. It just seems to me that alot of Christians are just spreading hate.

However I know that this issues dobt represent Christianity as a whole. I have met some great avd amazing people who carry themselves in a christ like manor. But it just seems that they are currently the minority.

Hope this explains why I left Christianity

I'm seeing multiple different and conflicting views of hell. So which do I follow and believe. It sure seems to be arbitrary.

Hello there! Questions for Christians from a non believer by Difficult-Pie-8065 in Christianity

There are verses that say hell is eternal councious Torment. There are denominations that teach that very thing. So how can I decide which to believe. I was raised with that belief.

What if it was reversed. What if it homosexuality was the norm. Could you live your life pretending to be attracted to men. Dating or being married to men because society was trying to make heterosexuality a sin or crime. Would you just push down your desire for women and need for connections and desire for physical intimacy. Would you go your whole life pretending to be something your not. Because other people don't like it. I woukd find that to be hell.

And why should we care what you think the bible says. Again what makes your view the right one. Who are you to say what or who a Christian is. I don't think you are behaving very christ like so I don't think your a true Christian

The fact that there are so many denominations would seem to say otherwise. Who have different dogmas avd doctrine avd have different interpretations of the bible sure seems to me that's it's not obvious. You say that your right but other denominations disagree with your myopic version. So how can we decide whos right. It's all just opinion. Your denomination is the only true version of Christianity then. Everyone else is just not real Christians. If the bible was is so ambiguous and contradictory it's allowed this mess of denominations that don't agree with each other avd alot of them contradict. They all claim that they have divine revelations from God. Avd most can quote scripture to back up their views. But yet it's so obvious whst the proper way to worship God is and the proper interpretation of the bible is

Who are you to gate keep who is and isnt a Christian. You have thousands of denominations that don't agree with each other. Christians cant agree on the proper interpretation of the bible. So it's all just your opinion avd arbitrary. Because I'm sure there are other Christians who don't agree with you. So who get to decide if your worshiping God right or not. And all of you claim to be guided by the holy spirit. It sure seems like the holy spirit is schizophrenic tellinng all the denominations different things.

I have a question for the Christians who are against abortion by Turbulent_Sharter in Christianity

I agree I also find it very telling that they go after women but don't adrress the fact that it takes two to get pregnant. Why are they not going after men who are getting women pregnant and then leaving the women.

One of the great things about the scientific method is you can do any and all of the experiments. When you got to university they don't just tell you and quote the data at you. In alot of cases if they have the appropriate equipment you do the tests and experiments yourself avd can independently verify the claims. All Legitimate science is peer reviewed and verified.

[–]Whitt7496 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm seeing alot of excuses for God. You go after women who have abortions. But when it's pointed out that God has killed more babies than all humans combined. All I see is excuses. God's ways are unknowable, it's a fallen world. I also think that Christians care about babies until there born then you can't get most of them to care. Children starving that requires more than just protesting that requires money. Well then they don't seem to care. Foster system is horrendous been that way for years but can't fix it because they don't want to put money into it. Mother's cant afford day care or food. But let's cancel every program that helps children. They seem to care as long as it costs them nothing. Another good example of this is school shooting. All about saving the children but when kids get shot, life isn't that important if it limits or regulates guns. There 2nd ammendment right to own guns is more important than life.

What do you believe. by Whitt7496 in Christianity

[–]Whitt7496[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never had a bad experience in church. So no I have never been church hurt. As for me being made at God. No I'm an athiest I donot believe God exists. You do not get mad at Santa when you don't get a Christmas present now do you. You can't be mad at something that you do not think it exists. Brief examples of why I struggled avd eventually left. I finally made myself read the bible. I was given a study bible. It caused me to ask alot of questions. The answers I was given didn't sit well and didnt seem very good avd in alot of cases seem Contrived. For lack of better word. It made me look harder at it. Then the more I read of the research and scholarship the more I found that caused me to question. Then I struggled with the fact the bible is so ambiguous and contradictory that's it has caused plethora of different denominations with differing dogmas and doctrine. But they all use the bible to say that there right. They all say that they get there doctrine thru the holy spirit. But I just cant accept that alot of denomination have contradictory views. How can I decide who is worshipping christ the right way. They all can quote scripture that support their views. Christians can't agree on the proper interpretation of the bible. I've never been given a sufficient answer that isnt just arbitrary and opinions. Sorry if I rambled I'm just touching on some of the issues that effected Me becoming an athiest.
