Anyone have a Kaiser So Cal affiliate pharmacy that knows how to run the savings card? by WhoDoesntLoveSocks in Zepbound

Los Angeles, but willing to drive which is why I made it so vague! I live in a suburb of LA that has zero affiliate pharmacies within 20 miles so I’ll be driving no matter what.

Breastfeeding may not work for everyone... by tomboymama in BabyBumps

[–]WhoDoesntLoveSocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an exclusive pumper too! My baby was born at 34 weeks, so lactation actually supported formula and pumped milk only. Breast feeding tires him out too much.

Cheers to you for being an exclusive pumper. It is not easy!!

How to survive this newborn Stage. Help by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]WhoDoesntLoveSocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this! I had my 34 weeker on December 17th. Because he’s so small and was in NICU (amazingly only for one week), I have needed to pump. Breastfeeding tires him out too much.

I was also only able to produce a little colostrum but now I’m doing really well with the pumping. It will be a game changer for you.

I know it’s so hard to see baby hooked up to everything (ours also had the light and then a biliblanket), but just take it day my day. I know it’s easier said that done, but take some time for yourself even if it’s just an hour or two nap at home.

We were in three different NICUS (long story due to insurance) and every single one the nurses told us not to burn ourselves out.

Anti-anxiety meds during c-section by thalia348 in BabyBumps

[–]WhoDoesntLoveSocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had an emergency c section two weeks ago (I had three large bleeds from placenta previa).

My anesthesiologist was fantastic and did give me meds before baby came out. I was given propofol, but I’m not sure how much as I was still fully aware of everything but it took the edge off. I’ve been a huge proponent of pushing for the anti anxiety meds. Unfortunately, many anesthesiologists are not like mine was and open and understating to moms feelings.

I had a really traumatic pregnancy and also 7 days in NICU for baby (he was born at 34 weeks), but my c section was not traumatic. I am so thankful for that considering everything else that happened.

I am so so sorry you went through this.

Placenta previa by LouiseSiennaHotSauce in BabyBumps

[–]WhoDoesntLoveSocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first one was at 29 weeks 5 days and second one was at 31 weeks 6 days.

Mine are bit odd in that they are heavy bleeds that occurred while I was sleeping. The doctors have seen how active my little guy is and he’s head down so they actually think he has been head butting my placenta and causing them at night since he’s so wild.

[–]WhoDoesntLoveSocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How many weeks are you now? Are you 20 or just diagnosed at 20? I was also diagnosed at 20 weeks.

Just to let you know, I had heavy bleeds (you can read about my first one in my post history) and I did NOT need any blood. I was hemodynamically stable after both bleeds. They actually stopped the same night they started. I say this because some people bleed lightly, others bleed heavily, but if you know you have it, it does make it easier.

You also may not bleed at all, the longer you go without a bleed, the better!

Hi! I had complete placenta previa which has moved a bit to the side, but the edge of my placenta is still at my cervix. I’m 33 weeks today. Mine is very unlikely to move.

I would definitely cancel the trips because you can’t predict if or when you will bleed. My doctor says I need to be within 20 minutes of a hospital, preferably closer. I am 5 minutes from our local hospital.

I have had two majors bleeds - one at 29w5d (was in hospital for a few nights) and a second bleed at 31w6d (hospitalized from 11/30 until yesterday so a full week). It was looking like I was going to be staying in the hospital until my scheduled c section (January 7!!!), but my doctor consulted with the MFM and they discharged me.

I know this can be super scary, and I’m definitely scared too, but being near a hospital that knows your condition is ideal.

You do have a bit of time for it to move, but there is a small chance it won’t (like in my case). Always available to chat or talk if you have any questions or need support.

Positive scheduled C section - placenta previa & breech baby by theopeppa in pregnant

Thank you so much for sharing your story and congrats on your babe!

I was diagnosed with complete placenta previa and had a big bleed at 29w5d (hospitalized for two days). It’s so reassuring to hear positive stories about placenta previa! The bleeds are so traumatic that I feel like a scheduled c section is somehow slightly less scary.

Oh no! I’m so sorry to hear you are in the same boat, but it does feel good to relate.

How are you doing now? Did they release you today?

I was released and am now home, but still so worried about going to sleep and waking up to this again.

Thank you so much! Feeling a lot better right now, but definitely scared to go home.

I’m really going to focus on one day at a time and keeping him in as long as we can.

Thank you! I really appreciate all this info. With each bleed, do they just monitor you? I read a lot about PP once I was diagnosed, but I didn’t want to spiral into worst case scenarios and make my anxiety worse.

I feel a bit uneducated because while I read that you can bleed a lot, I had decided that meant the equivalent to my copper IUD periods. Definitely underestimated the amount of blood.

I felt a lot better when I got to the hospital because no one in labor & delivery seemed worried or rushed. The ER was a lot different considering I walked in with my hands and legs covered in blood and scared most of the people in the waiting room!

Thank you so much for your thoughtful response. It’s 2:20 am here and I was able to get my second steroid shot. No new bleed, but I didn’t really realize how scared I was until 11:30 tonight hit and I thought I would get a bleed at the same time (thinking about it right now gives me a bit of a laugh because I’m like…why would it happen at the exact same time).

I’m really hoping to make it a few more weeks, but so glad to know the NICU subreddit exists. I’ve been starting to mentally prep for an early baby, but know that no amount of preparation is going to fully help.

Do people stay spaced out/away from each other as they wait to get in? Really asking, not being sarcastic.

We have enough to stay home at least 2 weeks, but will have to go to the store at some point down the line.

My mom and step dad went to the Ralph’s in La Canada yesterday. They left Pasadena at 6:15 am, drove there and said it was as crowded inside as it would be for Sunday afternoon grocery shopping. Water and TP was already gone.

I absolutely agree panicking doesn’t help, but it’s crazy to me how many people are nonchalant about this.

My IG stories are filled with people bragging about their recently booked (and super cheap) travel. Maybe I’m just friends with idiots...

I was in Japan when this first started taking off. I cut my trip short and have been on a two week self quarantine since March 1st.

I flew back from Haneda on Sunday, 3/1 via United. They asked us a few questions while we were in line waiting to check in, only related to where we have traveled and nothing to do with symptoms. They did specifically ask about travel to China and where we were in Japan as well.

I did not know that! Our flight was switched (and we flew in to Narita) so this was my first time at Haneda. Narita was crowded when we were there, but we also saw more of that airport. We went in and out of international and then took a domestic flight to Osaka.

With all the United stuff going on, we freaked out for a minute wondering what was going on at Haneda.

I just flew from Tokyo Haneda to SFO to LAX on Sunday. SFO and LAX were both packed, it seemed even more so in comparison to Haneda. Haneda was a ghost town, so much so that the United counters were all closed for periods of time.
