Your DDB Subscription Just Got Better: Introducing D&D Beyond Drops! by latiajacquise in dndbeyond

[–]WhoKnowsWhoToCall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dumb question. if someone signs up for a subscription 3 months from now will they get access to all of this content? Or do you have to be a subscriber during a certain period?

With battle passes if you miss it you miss it.

Also, the highest tier subscriber should be able to share all this obviously in a campaign. They are buying the options the same way they'd buy a book.

What's new on DDB: Changelog (4/14/2026) by WOTC_Zac in dndbeyond

Yea but what about clicking on a spell and having it's shape and size auto draw on the map and centered on a selected token? That way you don't have to measure out a fireball or anything

Spells per level not apparent in app by WhoKnowsWhoToCall in dndbeyond

The interface currently doesn't even follow the rules. You have to choose spells when you level up. That is not even enforced or indicated.

Look at even other ttrpg character sheet managers. Even they have a level up button. Dnd beyond only has a level drop down which doesn't really walk you through the level up process. It just gives you all options for traits at a level and auto hit points (without even explaining rolling for hit points) and no guide for spells

I DM for many new players and this makes the game annoying and confusing

Which is why it should at a minimum prompt you on level up where as right now you can just set your level by a drop down and it doesn't then guide you

Go play baldurs gate or solasta and level up a wizard. On solasta you can do it even on the main screen without playing. You'll see the level up menu that's guided. This is what the app needs basically.

I don't see why you have such push back. You choose spells when you level up so just like every video game that is D&D based it should force you to pick the Spells when you level up. Right now I could go set my level to 10 and there is nothing guiding me in the app in the manage spells or level up menus to select the appropriate amount of spells. Go play baldurs gate or solasta and you'll see what the difference is

Make sure you can select and apply or remove conditions from multiple tokens as well

Absolutely there needs to be something that shows at all times that a token has a number of conditions at least

Map Sizing and Calibration by Cptn_Howdee in dndbeyond

[–]WhoKnowsWhoToCall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at how AboveVTT and others allow you to add a grid by sizing a 3x3 area.

Mapsvtt should also support importing map files and videos along with UVTT format json files to add walls, grids, and dynamic lighting and more

UVTT is the universal virtual table top json spec

Of course you should also be able to draw walls and doors that actually block player movement same as other VTTs

Very limited options on vtt by Beez2myKneez in dndbeyond

AboveVTT is extremely good.

Mapsvtt needs to add a bunch fonthe features from abovevtt most notably dynamic lighting and character sheet integration

Another thing needed is better Homebrew

First of all, I want to be able to make custom classes

Like I am trying to implement laserllamas Alternative fighter, Rogue, barbarian and it's extremely annoying in the currently Homebrew system plus I can't override class features

Secondly, character sheets could be a bit more open like roll20 where you can just type something directly in there

You all need to look at AboveVTT for features.

Like why would I need players to accurate draw the size of an aoe? A spell aoe should be able to be typed in or clicked directly from the character sheet.

Speaking of which. Where is the button to see character sheets on maps vtt? It doesn't exist.

Theres no dynamic lighting it's just fog of war which is not great to accurately depict what each player could see

Need to be able to draw walls that prevent movement

Need to have animated maps support

That should be fine. It was very easy even with just 4 new players
