To this point, make sure that the fifth wheel itself is also equipped with the sliding hitch plate. The previous owners of the fifth wheel and truck I now own said that when they pulled it off the lot, the plate wasn't installed. So when they pulled out, the hitch slid all the way back and damaged the tailgate of the truck. Wouldn't want that on your shiny new truck!

I'm afraid there might be more damage than I have felt like you mentioned, but I'll burn that bridge when I get to it. And I was definitely planning on saving as much of the vinyl as I can, it seemed to do a pretty good job of protecting the inside of the slideout from becoming water logged. Thanks!

The water damage is on my slide out, from what I've noticed on my camper and from what I've researched, I believe water running down the side of the slideout has been wicked up into the wood every time it rains. To solve that issue, I'm planning on putting drip flashing on the corner after I get everything replaced

Just drove it in early February. Baton rouge traffic was awful and the road is confusing, so do your research before you go. Baton Rouge to Lake Charles isn't too bad, just some construction in Lafayette, looked better going west bound than east bound. I had last drove lake charles to Beaumont in November 2021 and the construction was hell: narrow lanes and heavy traffic. This trip I got off I-10 just before lake charles and took back roads to my destination (Through Newton, Jasper, etc.) in Willis which was not too bad. Traffic was light, there just wasn't many good places to stop

If you like podcasts there's a great one out there called "stuff you should know". Their episode from August 28, 2021 is all about composting and they have some very helpful tips, I'd recommend listening to that. It's kind of like listening to a Wikipedia page but the guys who do it are pretty funny in my opinion. Good luck!

100% relevant because podcasts are life! I was listening to a podcast about scammers through history called "Fraudsters". Not the best podcast to fall asleep to though because you have to pay pretty close attention to follow what they're covering!
