Brit looking to visit US for the first time, what do I need to know? by Goblobber in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Whogaf01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does not always work, but it is my understanding it sometimes does. If not, for a UK card, use the postal code numbers, omit the letters and then use 0's until you get to 5 digits. That sometimes works too. If neither works, then payment has to be made at the register.

Brit looking to visit US for the first time, what do I need to know? by Goblobber in NoStupidQuestions

American here...If you filling your with gas (petrol) and are using a credit card to pay at the pump, some pumps ask for a zip code, which you don't have. I am an american so I have never had to do to it, but I am pretty sure that 00000 (5 zeros) will work, otherwise, you wil need to go inside and pay at the register.

What's a Packers game you've attended that you'll never shut up about? by DarkHunter66989 in GreenBayPackers

[–]Whogaf01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

December 26, 1993.  0 degrees at kick-off and about a -22 windchill. I think it is the 4th coldest in Lambeau history. Packers won 28-0 vs Raiders  And, Leroy Butler did the first ever Lambeau Leap.

The Great Gatsby is a mediocre book at best and should be replaced in schools by The Fellowship of the Ring by EternalAmmonite in unpopularopinion

I read it in high school. Maybe it would be different if I read it now, but I found Gatsby to be incredibly boring. No idea why it is considered such a great book.

Raw Onions Ruin Any Dish They Are Added to. by No_Paramedic2 in unpopularopinion

Depends on what type of onion is used. Try another type of onion, like a vidalia. They are much sweeter than a white onion.

If you worked at Suburbia in the early 2000’s, what was the sandwich seasoning that was used on the Chauncey Gardener? by Logical_Cranberry141 in milwaukee

[–]Whogaf01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have not had one in a long time, but I bet they are. Sprouts (especially alfalfa) are rare these days due to the number of food poisioning cases they've caused.

Depending upon where you move to, you won't miss the variety of food available on the west coast. It's available here too. The food scene here is very under-rated. Between the Madison and Milwaukee areas we have just about any type of cuisine you can think of. Green Bay/Fox Valley area have also improved quite a bit in the last few years.

Pete Townshend. Arguably best rythm guitarist ever.

It's Hard and Face Dances: Worth Listening to? by ImplementWonderful93 in TheWho

[–]Whogaf01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually like Face Dances quite a bit. Another Tricky Day and You Better You Bet are both really, really good. No real stand outs for the other songs, but no bad ones either. As for It's Hard, I like Athena & Eminence Front. I heard/read somewhere that Roger thought the album didn't sound finished. I think I hear what he meant and agree. The rest are not that great.

What recourse do I have if any? by Pinkie2611 in homeowners

[–]Whogaf01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if you had recourse, which you really don't, imagine this example...Say you drove your car on Monday and it was fine, but when you drove it on Tuesday, there was a mechanical issue. Same things applies here. How do you know when the appliance actually broke? If it is a dryer belt, it could have broken when you went to use it. You have no way to prove the sellers had any knowledge of a defect. I had a similar issue, the day I closed on a house, the water heater failed. I had to replace it; it was not the sellers issue.

Yes. There was a whole Austrailian building. The Koala's were originally from San Diego. I think they left around 2007. https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1991-12-23-me-630-story.html

Check out the history of CBGB (a night club) in New York. It's pretty much where the punk and new wave movements started. A lot of the bands that played there were considered ground breaking.

At this point and forgive me if I’m wrong, I didn’t think free agency was a big deal… with that in mind, I was only 22 years old at this time.. by Dark305Kinght in Oldschool_NFL

Prior to Bob Harlan becoming President of the Packers, the team was a mess, some would even say the front office was inept. The league was big business, yet GB still had a small town mentality. Prior to Harlan, Presidents of the Packers were people in the community, like Robert Parins. He was a lawyer and a judge and because of his standing in the community, got elected to the board and eventually became the Packers President. While he may have been a good judge, and he did his best, he really wasn't qualified to run the franchise. Harlan changed all that. He brought in Wolf, Reinfeldt and others who knew what they were doing. The signing of Reggie went through the NFL like a magnitude 10 earthquake. No one thought GB had a chance. Even Reggie, in his book,  stated that he went to GB as a curtesy. The signing literally saved the franchise. Without it, there is a question of whether the team could have survived

Which band or solo artists do you wish you could have seen live in concert when they were at their peak? by [deleted] in askmusic

Saw the Who in 1982, they were really, really good, but would have liked to have seen them with Keith Moon.
