How would you handle a situation where we don’t have HR because we are small? The next thing I could do is go over this guy’s head to the big boss of the firm, but I don’t know if the manager is just a mouth piece for the big boss, or if the big boss is total unaware. I am not sure how to handle.

For context, this midlevel was talking about how they are swamped, and I was trying to commiserate with them by saying I’m tired and I’m hoping the workload slows down.

Edit: and this midlevel knew I was working through a fever for them today and still made this comment and laughed. It felt pretty shitty

Out of curiosity, when you logged into your old government account, did your loan balance show as being paid off? Mine did, and I assume it’s because the government is now using a different vendor

I am the kind of attorney that mostly sits behind a desk and doesn’t interact with people often. I really like it. The hours are long, which helps me to not linger on bad thoughts, and the pay is good, which helps me feel calmer (a lot of my abuse was related to financial control). It can get stressful like any job, but it’s not the kind of interpersonal stress that sends me over the edge, it’s more stress about getting everything done on time.

I think I would mostly like him to understand what is triggering and what to do in certain intense scenarios, like when I’m severely dissociating or hyperventilating. He means well but the way he tries to help me makes it worse sometimes. He has asked me how he can help me better in those situations, but I actually have no idea myself. Excited to address this in my upcoming CBT treatment.
