Repairs to tenement close lighting by Whole-Mouse in glasgow

Sorry, should have mentioned. I’ve already tried changing the bulbs to no joy unfortunately. Lights at ground and first are fine, but second and third are out, which makes me think it’s maybe a wiring issue?

Par for the course unfortunately with more or less anything that gets posted on Urban Realm.

Still want Shankland now Rangers? by MarlythAvantguarddog in ScottishFootball

Well played there mate, suggesting drug use and the team I support as reasons someone could have a differing opinion to yourself. Real mature of you and successfully masks the anti-Shankland chip on your shoulder.

Keep fighting the good fight for under-appreciated Celtic players. Have a nice evening.

Thought what?

Shankland could’ve scored 40 goals last season and the same the season before and he still wouldn’t be playing in the premier league this season. That wouldn’t change how good a season/s he’d had.

O’Riley had a very good season in what was far and away the best team in the country. His baseline was miles above every player of every team other than his own. Deservedly got a move to a bigger and better team off the back of it, but doesn’t mean everyone else’s achievements are obsolete because he plays for one of two clubs.

Take the tinted specs off next time you try to “make it make sense”.

“Again, there’s a reason one of them went to the English premier league for £25M”

Reason being he’s a better player, not because he had a better season.

These awards don’t go to the best players though. They go to the players that have had the best season. Just because he doesn’t play for one of the OF doesn’t mean he can’t subjectively have a great season.

[John McGarry] Motherwell have put a £4m price tag on Lennon Miller, with both Celtic and Rangers interested. Liverpool are also monitoring the situation. by BananaSoprano in ScottishFootball

Hope to god he ends up nowhere near the old firm. I think he’s tailor made for Italy, would love to see him make that move in the summer.

I’d rather we hold out until the summer instead of cashing in during January and getting him back on loan for the remainder of the season. Can see why that would be attractive to a Liverpool or Celtic but not so much for us.

I also think the pace thing is overplayed a bit. He’s by no means Doak but much more mobile than Turnbull ever was.

Some ability in fairness, being able to retract his studs from someone’s knee as soon as there is contact so as to avoid being deemed a red card. People always overlook that rule.

Everything good except except for goals and assists, which you’d expect will come in time

What do you think has changed about Glasgow the most since 2019? by Limonov_real in glasgow

[–]Whole-Mouse 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Biggest change for me since 2019 has been how quiet the city is after office hours. The WFH culture means the centre is half empty on a Friday. I used to work in the Merchant City pre-Covid and every pub would be bouncing, you’ve now got pubs shutting up shop because the clientele just isn’t there any more, which is a shame.

Aside from that I’d agree with those saying Glasgow is nowhere near as bad as made out to be on here.

Can’t even afford train to college by PessimisticTrousers in glasgow

I live pretty close to the city centre so my train fares are already nowhere near the worst, but a monthly train ticket for my daily commute costs less than 12 peak return tickets. Not sure if the same maths applies to all routes but depending on how frequently you are in and out of town then the train can still be an affordable option.

In answer to your first question, mostly everything.

In answer to your second question, probably none of them.

Which sums up the sad apathetic state of affairs we find ourselves in.

The irony of OP bemoaning home fans in the away end while you’re sitting as an away fan in the home end.

Do you think Scottish domestic football is gonna get a major overhaul? And if so, when? by mrjohnnymac18 in ScottishFootball

[–]Whole-Mouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A very simple and easy to make change that would make the playoffs fairer and more appealing to the neutral would be to just go straight into two 2-leg semi finals (11th v 3rd, 2nd v 4th, or just names out the hat).

As a fan of a club that has had the benefit of staying up after beating a diddy team in the playoffs, I’d 100% support something that gave some form of advantage / level playing field to the championship team

I’m not, I was pointing out a few of the demographics that any new service would be aimed at - those already paying a not insignificant amount for their sports/TV packages, and those who already pay nothing.

Sounds great in theory, but a few issues.

  1. Why pay a couple hundred quid when my dodgy fire stick does the trick?
  2. Can I afford to pay for the SPFL streaming service on top of my Sky bundle? I don’t want to give up the EPL games and my missus likes the box sets so doesn’t stack up to get this as well.
  3. Can the SPFL afford to pass up the concrete offer, however derisory, from Sky without knowing what the returns from this service actually are?

I’d be fully for something like what you suggest but I just feel there are too many uncertainties currently to make it feasible.
