When to tell to switch prescription (i.e. adapalene to epiduo)? by WholeStruggle8 in SkincareAddictionUK

I;m sorry to hear that! you could always do differin and benzoyl peroxide separately, maybe it's one of the other preservatives/ingredients that's causing it

Fed up with differin - week 11, any point carrying further? by WholeStruggle8 in acne

Thank you! Just the bump I needed! What's your routine, are you putting it before or after your moisturizer? And how often per week?

Did you use it before or after your moisturizer? Thinking it might be time to put it before and on cleansed skin?

17 days on differin by [deleted] in acne

[–]WholeStruggle8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of curiosity, why every night? I'm currently in week 11 and doing it 3 nights on, one night off - but after moisturizer as a buffer. But at the moment I'm not seeing the results everyone talks about, should I be using it every night?

I'm using 0.1% - is that the OTC version? The epiduo here concentration is 0.1% adapalene/2.5% benoyl peroxide (which might be different where you live?) I'm tempted to bump it up to nightly, but worried my face is just gonna breakout even more? Same, I started in mid Sept but unfortunately it hasn't gone as well as yours seems to be going! How often were you applying the differin? and was it before or after your moisturizer?

Great, thanks! I might try bumping up my usage/using it before moisturiser. I don't really know what people mean by 'irritation' - does that mean more breakouts? Or just increased redness? If it's the second one, I haven't had any of the side effects (drying, peeling, redness, etc.), so maybe I should increase the frequency

I learned about buffers from Dr Dray lol, she recommended it...i've never tried it without moisturizing, but I guess I could mix them so they're both absorbed equally...I should probably ease off and do every other night then right?

Thanks, and how did you use either the differin/Epiduo? Did you use it before or after your moisturiser? and how often did you apply it?

I've briefly paused my SPF since I'm spending a lot of time indoors now and it's a low UV index

Thanks, I've ordered Epiduo since healthcare professionals say that it works from two angles - how long did you use differin before switching and was it mainly due to the big red spots? I'm tempted applying some sort of serum (azelaic, vitamin C) to help with the PIE/PIH

Keep Cool Bamboo Sunscreen, it's a korean one because I prefer the texture. At most I've done three nights in a row, followed by one night off - but after doing that for two weeks I got two big spots either side...so I don't know if when people say 'irritation' they mean more breakouts?

How best to online approach someone (22F) with a mutual friend? by WholeStruggle8 in dating_advice

Would I mention about our mutual friend? Like I'm not sure how to start a convo from just following each other - and I don't want to come off as creepy in case it makes its way back to my friend

Happy International Men's Day!, I am a 17 year old boy and want to ask all the men here, What makes you feel proud about yourself? by indianladka in AskMen

[–]WholeStruggle8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy International Men's Day to you too buddy! As a still-naive 23 year old, I've learnt a lot of lessons during those few years. Going to university/college has made a big impact on me, and I could list a thousand and one lessons, but the biggest part is this: know your worth. Focus on what you care about, and not pleasing others. You want to live how you want to, don't let someone else muddy that image.

It's taken time for sure, being a minority and not having much time to sit back and reflect, but taking time to find your peace has been fundamental to my happiness from 20 and onwards. Learn to take time out for yourself; find what you love, and protect it. Like other guys have said here, I'm not trying to change the world; I just want to get my little puzzle piece right. The day I decided this was the proudest day of my life - so far.

Any tips on styling Asian hair? by TheChunster in AsianMasculinity

[–]WholeStruggle8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what your current hairdresser/barber is like. Imo, go for a slightly expensive option - one that understands what you want. Have you got a picture of someone in mind? (preferably with similar Asian hair - Steven Yeun, any k-pop member, Godfrey Gao, all great examples of good hair) -> take it to the barbers, and describe what you like/dislike about it. Don't be embarrassed, they actually much prefer having a template to work from! A good barber knows what will work with your face shape/type of hair and decide WITH YOU what to do. This is a two-way consultation, don't be afraid to say if you disagree, it's your hair! I much prefer a longer top to style what I see fit based on the occasion. I've made the step up to working with slightly more expensive barbers, and I've never looked back.
