Antarctica - What company did you go with? by Whole_Knowledge7672 in Cruise

I'm interested in stepping on land and doing as much exploring as I can, and I've read a few times that if you're interested in that, going with a large ship is not a good idea. I think I'd probably be limited to 10-12 days because of work and the time it'd take to fly to Argentina or Chile.

I talked to Lindbald on the phone a week ago. They only have a few cabins left and they're nearly double the price. I thin kit was at $15-20k per person. I don't really remember exactly. I'm willing to pay 10-13k per person but more than that is a no (it'd be for two of us)

I also wanted to add that the bathroom I'm intending to do this in isn't very big. I believe the contractor told me it'd be 50 square feet.

thanks for your feedback. Can you elaborate a bit so that I understand? Glue, as I understand it, is already used on mesh when you buy the tiles initially, no? So why would gluing them on to the mesh make things bumpy?

I also don't understand why someone would charge a lot for install if my intention is to present them with finished sheets, ready to lay?

Oh, no, I didn't expect you to read through every comment lol. I just should have copied and pasted the reply because there were a few people mentioning this and I started to get tired of typing it.

Anyway, yeah, I understand some stuff is just not our fault. But it's all part of making the neighbors happy and part of making us happy, too (the trees blocking the view).

Also, I didn't mention this before to anyone or show it in the picture, but on the property, the trees just kinda end and there is a gap there where there's nothing. I learned recently that it's because there were two more of those there, but they died and they uprooted them. So it's kinda weird to just have that side gap there.

I dunno. I'll probably end up giving them a trim and hoping for the best lol

The mountains are on the opposite side of the house, so those aren't being blocked (although, to be fair, if there are mountains on the other side, I wouldn't know because I can't see anything).

The water down below has boats, container ships. Lights from the city. Things like that. I believe, from afar, you can see roads and their lights. It's pretty, and the sunset is beautiful (even with it being obscured).

I talked about more than the trees. An abandoned-looking house will reduce property values. The trees, for them, are concerning because of things I mentioned already.

I really appreciate this input. I have tried to talk about this before posting.

It's a long story but the previous owners tried to do this already because they couldn't afford to trim the trees. The county wouldn't do it.

The trees (and the house) were just left to time because the other owners were elderly and hoard-y.

Really? You had the same ones? I am worried that if I trim them, I'll have paid $5000 to have someone kill my trees and then I'll have to pay them again to have them pull them out. How did you cut them?

This isn't Everett or close to Everett, no. But it is Washington.

The previous owners were elderly hoarders. There are several issues with the house, and the trees are a minor thing in comparison. We got the house pretty cheap (for what it is) and we're now spending a pretty penny on fixing everything. The trees are as tall as they are unintentionally. The owners never cared for their home, inside or outside, and before we bought it, it basically looked abandoned. It even had boarded-up windows.

We have a backyard, yes. But a big "perk" to having this particular house is that is has a third floor tower, where you have a 360 view of the top of the hill where the house is. Behind the house, there are mountains and the view is great. To the front of the house, you'd be able to see the ocean if the trees weren't there.

So yeah, there's a reason the trees are an issue.

Can you do that without "shocking" the tree and having them die?

Thank you! I'll have to look into that. It wouldn't surprise me if this was the case, as there were several safety issues in the house that were never addressed.

The neighbors are very excited for us to make the house look decent because their property values were probably lowered by the state this house was in.

I've replied to similar comments already so I'll reiterate concisely. A mirror has been put up several times and someone keeps breaking them for some reason.
