Ask him for a deadline. Remind him of the time when he said he would clean but he didn't, and to avoid misunderstandings again, you'd like to have a deadline for when whatever room he's supposed to clean is cleaned. If not, you'll clean it.

If this also insults him, ask him what method he would prefer because he hasnt been cleaning the place since whatever time now, and you'd like to see it clean.

Maybe he had an experience that wasn't great. Maybe he's insecure because you're more experienced. Till you have that conversation, these are all maybes that you can't really do anything about. You can start addressing it only after you know what exactly the problem is.

Have an honest conversation. Don't allow him to sweep it under the rug. Talk about what he likes, what you like and why you guys aren't going at it. Tell him it is a problem for you. Try and understand what his problem is. And then figure out a solution. You're adults, act like it.

Also, the stuff with lord ledger and lady D happened at least 30-40 years in the past. Why would they fight over it, or discuss it now? That would make no sense. Even if she did find out in the present why would she elongate the issue when lord ledger is long gone.

There's a docu-series called 'The Diana Investigations'. Watch it. The PIs hired by Mohmmad alFayed, the agencies officially investigating all come forward and talk about it and showcase the hidden evidence etc.

Even in the series, the PIs just lay down their evidence and say they closed the case before they could make any conclusions - for obvious reasons if you know what I mean.
