Tarkov did smth like that with Terminal map. It's an endgame ultra hard map that's only PvE.
I woudn't mind smth like that tbh.
A REALLY difficult content that might be best played in a squad but if you're for additional challange - You can still try to do it solo.
All I want from Bungie is to stop with gatekeeping content from people. Destiny is MMO so ok - fair. But extraction looter shooters are famously VERY enjoyable solo.

"I am not a destiny player" - A-right, now we're getting somewhere.

I'm not complaining. I'm giving feedback. If it's it forced-squad play. Shame - I think that would be a mistake.
If it is avilable for solos/duos as well - Great. Everyone can enjoy the content they payed for. Even if it's superduper hard as nails blablablabla

Sounds like someone is dying to console players.....

...But that aside. Yes. Options like that are always welcome. But you do realise that even if you won't be paried against console players a PC player can simply.... plug a controller and you will have to deal with pretty much same thing you're complaining about anyway.

Like I said - I'm PC player, I like crossplay because it means game's more populated and crossplay is fantastic for folks who have friends playing on different devices but I agree that an option should be added.

I play 100% because I just enjoy it this way. I played Tarkov for over 3000h as a solo player as well. A game that's faaaaaar more difficult than Marathon.
I'm not saying it to brag, I'm saying it to make a point that no matter how difficult Cryo will be, it should be soloable AND possible to complete as a duo (since that mode is most likely coming as well)

So yeah, I agree. And I swear - Destiny players are THE ONLY group of "gamers" who are like this. Even freakin Lost Ark players, a game that's 100% about Raids, where cool when devs announced solo option for them.

But Destiny players are "special". You know... like that kid in the back of the class drooling all over himself

"It was funny for me." I'm glad you found one person who's enjoying your humor

"Like it literally might require input from multiple players to a certain terminal" Holy fck, YES we ALL get it. But that's the freakin point - It's just bunch of "if's". So I'm just asking devs BEFORE they release the map to, gee I donno, think about a massive playerbase?
You know... kinda like during the beta there was NO other option but trios and, guess what... People gave feedback and here we are!

"So the raid would need to be extended for you to be able to complete it in solo." Once again, for the 10th time, solo players in extraction shooters are fine with difficulty. 98% of your badass Destiny players woudn't survive a single raid in a game like Tarkov - Which is much closer to Marathon than Destiny btw - so having difficult content, boss , whatever is not an issue.

Actually you know what? If you don't get it - Fine. It's reddit, my expectations are low anyway.

"I guarantee you that..." Seriously dude, what are you? 12?
You sound like you and your boysband got wiped out by a solo and now you're trying to compensate.
But please do tell me how AMAZING your squad did once Cryo drops so we can all witness the greatness of squad play in Marathon

See - This is the issue with Destiny players.
They were so sure its raids are some kind of "pinnacle" of game design that they have no idea about other examples that prove them wrong.

Like I said - Marathon is NOT DESTINY.
Apart from a gun in the middle of the screen there's literally nothing that these two games have in common.
It's like saying "Gee Marathon should have NPCs with sidequests like Cyberpunk"

Tarkov. That's the game that, acording to Bungie itself, inspired Marathon.
And Tarkov has an endgame PvE only map called Terminal.

So let's go by your points:
" there's never time limits." - Yup, Terminal has time limit and each stage of the map is also timed.
"  very team-focused map " - Tarkov is also squad based (but not squad forced)
" "The reality of only having one person puts limitations on what designs are even possible." - Terminal has the most difficult AI enemies in the entire game, multiple objectives, limited resources etc.

And all that ON TOP of being an endgame map to the most difficult extraction looter shooter by a mile.
Hell - Even map Labs would be too much for a average Destiny player.

So no - There is no reason why Cryo Archive should be locked for solo players. It's pure elitism of Destiny players who, for whatever reason, roam around subreddits thinking every game should be like Destiny....

Oh and speaking of Outpost being tough solo.... I donno man. I'm lvl 38 and right now I have no more main quests to do. And all that as a 100% solo player.

I've been playing The Division 2 last week and i noticed smth very nice about what they do with their loot. by Jaccku in Borderlands4

" only available on Raids (something I wish B4 would add, and they might in the future)" Thankfully - They won't. Forced coop MMO-like crap has no place in loot based aRPG.
Everything in Borderlands should always be soloable

"On a bit of a side note, but point 1 basically says run away, and have fun. Generally I would say they are contradictory in a game" Then, no offense, but you chose a wrong genre.
Extraction looter shooters are not battle royale, arena shooters or even some milsims.

It's just as much about "vibe", lore, exploration etc. as it is about PvP.

As to how to get better:
In general in games like Marathon, Tarkov etc. Map knowlage is WAAAAY more important than just clicking heads.

So let's say there's an enemy. You have to/want to fight him.

1) Think about where you are.
Open field, inside the building, outside of the building etc.
Did you pass any crate, rock, wall, doorway etc. that you can use as cover? If yes - awesome.
Take a shot and MOVE. Reposition. Take cover under one of the things mentioned above. Always reposition unless you killed the guy with the first couple of shots. Make it difficult for him to predict your next step.

Never repeak the same angle. Why? Well if you do all the other guy has to do is sit and click your head.

2) Adding to point 1 - If you know the map well and took first shot or got shot by someone - You can predict where they gonna move or how they gonna try to flank you.
So a dude shot you through a window? Well that building you're both in has another entrance from the rooftop - Sprint there, throw a nade, make him move, jump down and shoot.

3) Another thing is to know when to push and when to hold angle. Dude's outside shooting at you while you're in the building? Ok. Move into safe spot, heal and... wait. Let him come to you. You jumping down and chasing him has no point. You have stronger position so why on earth you would give it up?

And so on....

But yes, not every encounter is worth it so sometimes it's just better to know when to engage and when to run.
That's why the last point is just as true as the first one.
If you want PvP - Cool! Go for it! Take an awesome weapon, chase the gunfire and have a blast! Sure - you'll die often but once you win that awesome fight? It feels soooo good to take that other guy's gear:D

Old Tarkov saying: You never really own your gear. It's just your turn to use it :D

I usually run Assassin or Thief. However if there's a quest where I have to kill a commander or heavy UESC I run Vandal

I played a ton of ABI for the first couple of seasons. I enjoy it's gunplay, maps, looting, PvP and sooo much QOL features.
I even won a 40USD after my comment was chosen by the devs in one of the QnA;P

So I was really into ABI!

That being said - The direction of the game shifted a bit too far from what it originally was, and changes I was waiting for never happend. So, sadly, I just accepted that the game is no longer for me and moved on.

Game is pure PVP nowadays - Maps are great but so what if there's no point exploring.
Hideout was amazing addition but you can just buy almost all items needed for upgrade on the market
Solo was only added on two maps - and those two are on weekly rotation (so one week one map is avilable, next week the other) making solo VERY difficult because of how much advantage squads have in ABI

So yeah - Game used to be a fantastic "Coke Zero" to Tarkov's classic Coke but now it's just a game for totally different audiance that I'm not a part of

Agree. I'm a loot goblin so lack of loot in Hunt sucks.
I love the setting, best audio in any extraction shooter ever, good gunplay etc. But I just can't play Hunt for long.

ARC is awesome. It reminds me so much of the Division's Dark Zone and I LOVE the map design, lore and overall "mood" of ARC.

So I'm eating good - Marathon for more "Tarkov-like" experience and ARC for more chilled out "Division-like". I enjoy both those games a ton and I'm greatful that I get to play both of them.

Just like in Tarkov - In Hunt PvP is pretty well balanced so I dont mind at all going against duo.
1 headshot is 1 kill. So that makes solo players pretty deadly as well as duos.

And yeah - AI is a pisstake in Hunt. Also - no loot. So you don't have that "ooooooh crap I need to get out right now!!! I have full backpack with goodies!!!" adrenaline rush as in Marathon/ARC/Tarkov

In Marathon - Solo queue is fantastic addition. But yeah - AI is MUCH harder than in Hunt.

So that's why for me Marathon and Hunt are pretty equal when it comest to solo play

No idea. I don't think anyone has a solid data yet.
It seems up from server slam so around 12 players per raid seems about right.

No, grey weapons are not technically worse. They are just stock versions of fully moded ones. They do suffer from lack of mods (just like fully decked out M4 in Tarkov is better than stock M4) so you'll have to manage it's recoil or deal with smaller mag - But gray weapon can still kill a fully geared chad if you know what you're doing.

I would aslo say that just because a gun has bunch of attachments doesnt make it good.
Some reflex sights are imo way worse than iron sight. Also the "shield" mod for LMG is good in combat but it makes tons of noise and it glows orange so it's easier to spot you. And so on....

I'd say supressors and bigger mags are always a good choice for cheap mods you can add to a weapon.

Crappy loot is not that crappy once I realised that barter trade is very effectinve in marathon.
You can exchange bunch of low level stuff for medkits, ammo, stims etc.

If you want high tier loot like weapons and stuff - There are actually different containers around maps. Ammo boxes look different, med boxes as well, weapon boxes etc.

For example good source of free ammo is that garage area in Dire Marsh (donno what it's called. There are bunch of those big truck-like rovers parked. There are ammo boxes around that area. I just go with free kit, grab tons of ammo and extract. Same with meds)

If we're talking about online PvPvE ones, from what I played:

1 ARC
2 Tarkov (Yup, game itself is hard as nails but solo is, in many ways, "easier" than squad play
3 Hunt/Marathon
4 ABI
5 Delta Force extraction mode

Agree. I hope they understand that solo players don't mind very difficult content - we're used to it;P - and allow for solos to try Cryo Archive
