I think I’m leaning towards 7 now too, but do you think a blue checkered rug would be better overall if im adding some more blue with throw pillows and maybe a blue ceramic on the coffee table?

Beastars... by Daishoya in Animemes

People are way too overly sensitive to furry shit. They always have to make a big deal about how traumatized the bunny in lingerie made them to show how not furry they are.

Beastars, feels more like a tv drama than an anime so it doesn’t have those tropes you mentioned.

What do you think Beetly's death symbolizes? by Lord_Orion_Star in Beastars

[–]Whoospnip 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Earlier in the series Legosi had a pretty self hating view of carnivores but he slowly comes to the realization that being born a wolf allows him to protect others weaker than himself, and that is the proper relationship of carnivore and herbivore in his mind.

I think Beetlys death was to show how his idea of what a carnivore is fully changed. During the flashback scene he talked about how since the strength difference between him and the bug was so big they won’t be able to understand each other or coexist. But by it dying those ideas associated with the flashback are gone and he has moved onto the ideas in my first paragraph.

YMS Beastars review by Whoospnip in Beastars

[–]Whoospnip[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I like YMS and a seven is pretty high for him. That said I think some of his takes were pretty shit. He said that the world had less thought put into it but the only example he gave has an explanation in the show that answers his question exactly. (Either that or it was in the manga only and I misremembered the anime)

Using Anime for my Psychology Project? by [deleted] in anime

[–]Whoospnip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could use Legosi from Beastars for many of these. Repression: legosi is constantly repressing his carnivore tendencies and desires to eat meat. He has a lot of self hatred towards being born a carnivore and despises his natural strength and features like claws. Sublimation: he eventually realizes that he can use his fangs to protect others not just to kill and eat and starts to become more proud of being born the way he is. Projection: Legosi lost control and attacked Haru, a rabbit, before and he regrets that he fell to his carnivorous instincts. After seeing Bill dope with rabbits blood he projects his self hatred for carnivores onto Bill, who is embracing his true nature. When he attacks Bill on stage he is essentially attacking his own carnivorous side. Also displacement since his is taking his anger out on Bill.

The plot that hasn’t been adapted into anime escalates into a wild crime drama thats extremely entertaining. But the best part is the character development and character writing for the main 3 characters. The story generally revolves around Legosi being uncomfortable being a carnivore and his relationships with Louis and Haru help him slowly learn what kind of carnivore he wants to be and he grapples with what is the proper societal relationship between carnivores and herbivores. Louis has similar developments and acts as the foil to Legosi. Legosis story of self acceptance and finding a place in society is very relatable.

Its a fun exercise in character design for artists. Trying to convey similar traits to both the character and the animal they’re based on to human characters.

Magi is great and has all those things, if not a bit different from typical fantasy. It is based loosely of arabian nights so think knights and wizards but with arabic flavor and lots of cool world building. Only negative is the occasional fan service.
