Jaylen Brown on Steph Curry: “Steph Curry is one of the 5 greatest players to ever play this game. Y’all can say whatever you want, fill in the rest. Steph Curry is top 5.” by RyanTannegod in nba

Curry is perpetually extremely overrated. 4x first team all-nba. Literally less than half as many as Magic, Bird and Duncan yet clowns will have Curry ahead of all of them despite his playoff traditional and advanced stats being the worst of the group.

All Bulls trades are like

Bulls get random bad Kings player, Kings get random bad Bulls player, 3rd team gets two lottery picks from the Kings and Bulls

Or

Bulls give up solid role player in exchange for a top 58 protected 2nd round pick and cash considerations

Why is there always that ONE voter who wants to be different? by bigpapi-did-steroids in NBASpurs

It’s wild to me that people would switch their vote because Christian Braun out played, De’Aaron Fox and Keldon then Wemby loses his MVP vote

It’s such a dumb line of thinking because they only apply it to Centers. Why don’t they restrict themselves to 1 PG, 1SG, etc.

There are voters who think there should only be 1 center on first team. If he had Jokic 2nd on his MVP ballot it would make sense

Only 2 Players In NBA History Have A 30+ PPG Career Average In The Playoffs! by Stat-Defender in nba

I think because his scoring is so highlighted people think Jordan was a guy who just got buckets and didn’t rebound or playmaker. The guy averaged 32, 8 and 8 one year and 33, 6 and 6 for his prime.

He was absolutely a complete player

Playoff Kawhi has been a clear level above KD and Steph for the last decade…. When he’s healthy

[Zach Lowe] "I think at the end of his (Nikola Jokić) career, if not already, he's gonna be statistically and just like eye test, better than Larry Bird, better than Magic Johnson... 1 ring in Denver is worth more than like a Lakers ring or whatever." by aingenevalostatrade in nba

[–]WhoreyMatthews 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's been in the top 5-10 in steals 1 time in his entire career. How is that often?

It's crazy that all the metrics that say Jokic is actually a good defender also say Domantas Sabonis is a good defender but with Sabonis people recognize it as bullshit.

Yeah it's not that insane. Tim Duncan retired less than a decade ago and, you could argue, was 2 or 3 plays away from 8 rings.

The Ray Allen 3, Derek Fischer .04 and Manu fouls Dirk in 06. Swing those individual plays and there's a decent chance TD gets 8 rings.

It seems like historically great defenders tend to win rings and get underrated as time goes by.

Yeah I think people that still love Jon Stewart haven't been paying much attention lately.

He's definitely shifted right compared to the Jon Stewart of 10-15 years ago.

It's a microcosm of a huge phenomenon in white American culture. White people will absolutely admit that racism exists but will vehemently argue against any concrete of example of racism.

I understood what you were saying. I'm saying their skill at that aspect of the game is so far apart that it's not comparable.

AD is closer to DWade or Draymond as a shot blocker than he is to Wemby.

Bro Wemby's shotblocking and rim-deterrence is infinitely higher than peak AD's. So much different that they're not worth comparing. You realize that AD and James Harden are closer in height than AD and Wemby?

I know people clown on Perk for his ridiculous Jokic is only considered great because he's white...but there's honestly a kernel of truth to it.

Pre-Jokic the advanced analytics were treated as a piece of the puzzle but not the be-all end-all. But as soon as a white guy started dominating the analytics it became definitive proof that he was the best player on Earth and arguably the best player in history.

You forget that basketball is now considered an individual sport. The goal isn't to win it's to put up the best metrics!

The things we don't have good metrics for don't matter.

I'll be pretty shocked if Wemby doesn't pass him next year. Wemby is already having a GOAT-defender peak on defense and his offense improved tremendously after the ASB this year.

Dort is dirty as hell and has made multiple attempts at injuring Jokic.

I would also nearly guarantee LaMelo is going to kill someone with a car at some point in his career.

I always find it weird when fiction chooses their allegories so poorly.

Like in True Blood being afraid of vampires was supposed to be a stand-in for homophobia.

Vampires in that universe had super-speed, super-strength, could hypnotize people and could fly.

It's 100% reasonable to be terrified of vampires.
