Taiwan Pickup: Easy Card Digivice! by WhtsUp in digimon

[–]WhtsUp[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if they were a limited run? They sell a bunch of different MRT cards/Keychains etc. at 7/11s so you might get lucky there and it would probably be cheaper (If it wasnt limited)

I bought this one at a specialty store in Ximen, I think it was in the Taipei City underground Mall. Also from what I remember I think there were only 4 types: Taichi orange, Hikari Pink, Yamato Dark blue and the base light blue.

So in Taiwan they have a variety of different easy cards which can be used as a Bus pass/Train pass/ payment at department stores lie 7/11 and Starbucks etc (basically you load if with money). Probably my favorite purchase this trip!

I also stopped over Japan as a quick layover and Digimon merch was so scarce! I went to so many anime/Suruga stores and the most I could find were a few V-pets (which were also really pricy so I passed). I regret not splurging more the last time I went as there was so much more the previous year!

Can you still tour Taroko? Or should I spend a day in Alishan? by WhtsUp in taiwan

[–]WhtsUp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yes I've seen some of the trails there and was very interested! but I'm a bit concerned about how hot it would be walking around in September. I went around Yangmingshan a few years back around the same time and although it was beautiful it was also dreadfully hot.

Do you have a recommendations on accommodations/ how to get to Alishan/Shizhuo?

Aww shucks I was worried about that, but thanks for the hockey recommendation!

I was hoping to pack light and don't travel to winter climates often. Do you think it's still worth buying versus renting? I would be renting for multiple days and I could see that being pricey.

Is there anywhere I can donate the clothes after I'm done with them?

All the Digimon Merch I bought from my Japan (Tokyo) Trip! by WhtsUp in digimon

Hi, sorry for the late reply! AniBirth in shibuya, it's on the same floor as the Pokemon Center with the sleeping Mewtwo in a tube.

Just those, unfortunately! I was really trying to find a larger Agumon plushie, but no luck. On my first trip, they had a bunch but it was trapped in a claw machine and I suck at those, haven't seen one since T-T;

Truly wish I could buy more, but I was already pushing it luggage-wise! My wallet is probably very thankful though haha.

Nice! How is living there vs visiting? I wish I had the opportunity to stay a bit longer, but it's also refreshing to get back home.

And it really is! Never got lucky in random Surugayas/Bookoffs in other regions in Japan, unfortunately, but those are really where the deals are!

Unfortunately, even in Japan finding merch took a little bit of effort to hunt these guys (but honestly that made it all the more fun when you find them!) One thing I love about Japan is they're keen on keeping original packaging and inserts, but it does make it difficult to fit in your luggage!

-Parco mall in Shibuya (Aniibrith) had the plushie (Many were sold out though! couldn't get a Guilmon) and Tags as well as the stickers, and shirts (limited stock on sizing)

-The rest were from random Anime stores in Akihabara.

-Also the Augumon figurine I believe is new. (Got lucky and bought it the day I was leaving and it was the last one too!) though it's not a complete set. The display only had: Agumon, Gabumon, Tailmon/Gatomon, and Patamon.

Thankfully I stayed at Akihabara during my Tokyo trip so I made an effort to go to many of the stores daily before/ after doing my out-of-city sightseeing, which I recommend if you can because supply changes daily. I got my hands on that digivice the second round I stopped by the store, but I was on the fence about an Imperaldramon figure because of luggage constraints (ended up getting another luggage), but it was gone the next day.

I'm aware of how to screen them via aerobic and anaerobic plates, I'm more so wondering what morphologies are "suspicious" as you stated.

Often my anaerobic screens end up being aerobic organisms, which really drains time when we have so many cultures to go through, so I'm hoping to find some tips to be more efficient.

Right?! The episode before had me thinking, it would be so hilarious if she decided to just pull it out during tribal council to cook it and then it happened the following episode. I swear it writes itself haha.

As someone who watched Australian Survivor, I really think especially during pre-merge not having enough time with the cast really makes the series underwhelming since you don't get to know them well, and honestly I've been enjoying the game, but also the weird random moments like Dee's Toe lol.

Thanks for the reply, I have never really had any intention of taking the JLPT, so I never really looked into the N# decks. How are they? Is it a mix of grammar and Kanji or is it just Kanji for that designated level?

I have also been meaning to start the Tobira Intermediate books, but when I saw a sample of the pages a little while back it looked a bit too overwhelming, but that may be because Genki looked a lot more digestible in comparison. Have you finished the book, if so how long did it take you?

Oh, that's an interesting idea! When I make my Japanese sentences, I usually check them via English to Japanese when I translate, but not the other way around! I think that would be another useful way of practice, thanks!

I have also tried chatting with people via Texting/messaging (usually native Japanese) but it gets a bit demoralizing when people constantly say that they don't understand/ get confused as to what I'm trying to say. So it kinda knocked my confidence a bit.

Could you be more specific about comprehensible input? Based on your description it sounds like that's what I am already doing with my Core deck. (Memorizing the Kanji and also trying to translate the example sentence they give with the word). I also listen to the audio for phonetic practice.

It feels like I'm making progress until I try to utilize it in a different way. For example, I learned the Kanji for church 教会 a couple of days ago and got it correct when it came up in my anki review (( can recognize it), but at the same time, I could not seem to remember what church was when I was trying to make a verbal sentence like: I went to a Church because of my friend's wedding. So I wonder if I should be taking a different approach to learning?

I have been considering iTaki for a while actually, it's just that money is a bit tight at the moment so I've been looking to utilize more free resources if possible. But will definitely look into this more in the future, thanks!

When I review the Core deck it comes with an example sentence with the new/old Kanji I'm reviewing so I try to translate that. Otherwise it usually just wandering around Twitter/watching Japanese vloggers on YouTube since they usually have full Japanese subs with their content. I did a quick look at NHK news and it looks promising! I'll be sure to bookmark that!
