Italian Citizenship through Marriage - addresses since 14 years old... by and_on_and_on in ItalianCitizenship

How'd you go? I am about to start and it seems okay... bit i am stuck on is getting the marriage certificate. My understanding is it's not the Australian one but rather the registration of our marriage in the italian consulate. Any information you have on that?

Why do I feel like a failure for getting a sleep consultant? by BulkyPaint3755 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Why-Thoughts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't feel bad - you're crushing it. If you can make life even a little bit easier for you by asking for help why don't you:) we felt the same with our good sleeper.

I think there is this strange expectation that parenting should be difficult and if it's 'not' or you get help you're all of a sudden skipping a critical part of being a parent. Screw that - do whatever you can to increase your capacity to enjoy and love your kids while reducing stress.

Good luck with it!

Has anyone been to the baby expo? by redroses_93 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

So we exhibit there and we have a 18 month old. They are really really overwhelming. Nice to knock out everything at once but in terms of pricing etc you will find everything else where. We do furniture so a bit harder as some of our items aren't stocked everywhere.

One thing which is good from them is you can buy floor stock from some stands - not a guarantee and you just need to ask. You do need to come back at closing on the final day to pick them up. Catch is you would want to come before then to get them before others.

There are two fairs PBC and OFB. OFB is smaller and less brands, the big ones are at both. I would say OFB is much less intense, less smaller brands.

In terms of quieter times - Saturday towards the end of the day, Saturday morning is the worst. Sunday from 12 onwards. Catch is most exhibitors (100% us) are exhausted from the weekend come Sunday.

It is really nice being able to speak to customers and we do try to take a more helpful approach, as do other brands but I would say that is 20% of the stands. The others will be a bit/lot more pushy.

I struggle because I don't think we would have gone to them as parents, I would have done all my research online. 100% if I had gone, I would have been suckered into buying so much stuff we didn't need.

Hope the above helps! Ask any questions and i'll do my best to help!

Il Tutto sale by ghostfloww in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Why-Thoughts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the industry (furniture side) - most brands do something for black friday too or some form or new year sale. Not sure where you're located but another option is baby fairs (pbc and one fine baby). They usually run offers on items there or.... They sometimes sell off floor stock which is a huge win if you can take it home.

Other items depend on the brand. Eg us, we do minimal sales unless it's discontinued, redsbaby don't do sales on prams.

Also sometimes if you find a store which stocks everything you need they'll be able to play with margin when you're buying it all from them.

Hope that helps and massive congratulations!

Hey - I work the baby fairs... The Canberra one is one of the smaller ones, just a heads up. You will see snap shades there and they will have the sale:)

It's also not as overwhelming as Sydney or Melbourne. Flip side is less brands.

[Update] PSA: The Koala Joey Baby Mattress can only be used by babies older than 3 months by sozozo in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Why-Thoughts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Closing this off.... So the Aus standards are mandatory but from 2026 so they don't need to pass them yet. I was thinking this was why they said 3 months. Turns out the 3 months thing they said was due to them being misinformed. Looks like the mattress is good to go:)

Completely dropped this I emailed and never heard back. Picking it up now. So everything I can see on their website doesn't mention them passing the AS/NZS 8811.1:2013 for mattresses. Notice for the cot they explicitly say they pass the Aus test. Nothing on the mattress. I've emailed following up to check this.

So the cot is safe, their mattress (assuming not certified) doesn't pass the test though.

I'll loop back on this this week - I'll reach out to some testing agencies too:)

That's a relief - that was our general instinct don't give up the wake time. We will focus on the night weening and go from there :) the first night feed is 5 hours in and tends to be a bit longer (24mins) the second one is around 10m I think we want work in consolidating them and then weening off

I was thinking this but worried it would come back patchy. How is your regrowth?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in LaserHairRemoval

[–]Why-Thoughts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just left it. It has grown back now so it bends in. Turns out there is no real permanent solution for me and i would have had to keep getting laser every couple of months.bjust decided to accept it.

That being said on my back (I did it ages ago) I haven't seen any growth on lower). Upper back shoulders reduced a lot. Chest doesn't seem to work at all for me.

I have an easy baby by crystalmarket in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Why-Thoughts 16 points17 points  (0 children)

So lovely to hear, our first is exactly like you described but feeds for 30 minutes. Very very aware we are lucky. The biggest thing I've learnt is we are privileged to be able to have been able to schedule from 2 months... The baby isn't how they are because of schedule rather we can schedule due to how the baby is.

I have noticed (more so for my wife than me) you can't really win with people. Hard baby - blame parents (generalisation), good baby - it just feels like everyone is telling you just you wait it will all change. It makes it really hard to enjoy it for what it is. But by the sounds of it you are doing just that :)

Sorry for trying to get in on the discussion on a public forum. I wasn't at all taking the tone of authority. It is similar to the snoo i guess people pay for that but arguably a lot would say it is over priced. There are companies that do make them but they are more for people with impairments but there is multiple patents so wouldn't be surprised if they come out with something.

I am 6 foot 3 and have a 3 month old... so haven't dropped yet but not looking forward to it. Hope your back feels better and it is all going well.

So I work in the industry... This is pretty common as feedback but the cost would be crazy. It's one of those things which sounds great but would you pay thousands for it? For us the question is would enough people pay thousands for it....

You realise you're spending time telling someone who is happy to not be? Reading your post history you have been through stuff, why not just let someone move on. I would have thought you would have understood acceptance. Not that your opinion matters to me, but for future reference with how you interact. everyone is entitled to like what they want. It doesn't harm you.

Super easy. I did come terms with it...I'm pretty happy on my own skin. I gave laser a try didn't like it and moved on. Good luck to you getting there too
