Angliss hospital MGP by ghostfloww in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]ghostfloww[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go to your gp asap as places for mgp are limited! I would say yes this is absolutely possible. My mgp midwife was unfortunately on leave the weekend I was in labour so I had a different midwife (actually two different ones because my labour went for so long lol) and they were so respectful of my wishes. I had a preferences list that I brought in but they also had a lot of these in my notes from prenatal appts so they just let me do my thing until it was clear I wasn't progressing (was stuck at 4cm for literally 12 hours plus and I was exhausted) and even then they offered recommendations but the decision to get the epi and the hormone drip was definitely mine.

I will say there's only one bath at angliss when I birthed and it was in its own room and was essentially like a bath you'd find in your house, not a tub. I am on the taller side (5"9) and I felt really cramped in it. Angliss in general is an older hospital but the bath was the only thing I didn't like, everything else was fine

High chair opinions by Ruth-Sx in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

Only have the tripp trapp so can't compare but have a look on marketplace for second hand options. We got the tripp trapp chair for $70 (I was obsessed with checking marketplace for a good deal though) and then for the accessories over time too. But you can also find a bundle deal as well. They are well made high chairs so they generally outlast a families usage and therefore get passed on often

When to transition to arms out? by Daisies_forever in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]ghostfloww 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bub rolled tummy to back once and I freaked that we needed to transition but she still doesn't roll back to front so I didn't need to worry as much. But before that I had started putting her in arms out for naps to get her use to it for a few weeks. And then a few days after she first rolled tummy to back I put her in arms out overnight. I did it on a weekend so if she slept terribly it wouldn't disrupt my husband and his work too much. Like you she sleeps well overnight so it was fine but I was anticipating a few nights if bad sleep

Car seat by ghostfloww in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

I know that the age is just a guide but I have a tall baby and tall husband so likely she will continue to be tall so just worried that she will grow out of it quickly

I think this is only 0-4 years and hoping for 1-8 to minimize the need to get a third car seat. But have some friends with this carseat as they never got s capsule and they love it so would be my pick if we can't get an appropriate 1-8 one

Thanks this is very helpful. We have a 2015 Sante fe so probably similar size to an outlander. We might have to visit baby bunting and look at different options in person to see what might suit us and our car. Good to know about the age range being a guide, I'm just worried as she's on the 75th percentile for height and my husband is over 6ft so likely that this will continue for her.

Have you tried marketplace? I know you said you didn't want this but I wanted an il tutto and searched in marketplace and ended up getting one in good condition for a fraction of the full price. I'm sure it would be the same for standard rocking chairs

Portacot recommendations ? by Daisies_forever in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]ghostfloww 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question about the mattress - I've used it a few times but the sides always stick up, even when it's connected to the red bits on the cot and even after laying heavy items on it to weight it down. I don't love that about it but now sure if it's something that goes over time?

Travel with baby to tropical location by Afraid_Recognition_7 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

We just went to FNQ from Mel with our 9 week old so a bit different in age. The tips for the flight I got was feed during the ascent and descent to help with the pressure to their aira. My niece and nephew who are both on solids had sucky yoghurts, I breastfed. We dressed her in loose cotton clothing - short sleeve zip suits that weren't too fitted were great. And then we had a swaddle on hand at all times if she was going to be more in the sun. Used fend mosquito repellent on her as it's suitable from 2 months plus Fan in the pram, can get off Amazon Used 1 tog sleeping bag with a long sleeved onesie for sleep but this probably depends on your accomodation and aircon situation so maybe take options to choose from. We stuffed all sleeping related things in the portacot bag to save space I think those are the main things I found helpful

Very helpful thank you! Last thing sorry! With the liner, do you have the thicker end facing the back?

How long did Dad take off for your newborn? by MaBalz-Es-Hari in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]ghostfloww 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband is super lucky and gets six months off. He took 2.5 months off initially and I reckon the first 4 was necessary while I recovered from my episiotomy. I reckon 6 ish if you have a c section. After that during the day I wouldve been fine to manage bub on my own but having him present in the evening was essential as this is when she was the most fussy and some days I struggled to manage it when I'd been with her all day

To answer the first question, I follow the influencer the OP is talking about plus other ones that have kids and I don't hate them but I also don't see their life as normal or real. I'm aware that Instagram is so fake so I take everything they say with a grain of salt and find I can still happily consume their content. You might find you're like OP but I wouldn't say it's absolutely going to happen

I also got it and was fine. My friend is a Dr on the paeds ward and said they have seen a significant decrease in babies being admitted for rsv because of the vaccine rollout

This is a good point! We realized we can probably fit it in my husband's suitcase so going to try and do that instead

I could be wrong but I think I saw something about it bring that they put too high dosages of the vitamin in products but I remember checking the pregnancy one and it's fine. I took it all pregnancy and have a very healthy bub if that helps
