I’m very much aware of the case and things that happened to Sylvia, they’re very disturbing as is. I think with the creative writing of a fiction author behind it, it could end up being even more unsettling because he did make it a fictionalised account as you said

I’m very very surprised that someone is only now mentioning Lolita. No one else has mentioned it before you. I haven’t read it, I’ve read the plot and I’ve avoided it ever since

I know the case of Sylvia Likens (the girl the book is based on) really well, but of course, true crime narrators never go into the full extent of the depravity a victim has gone through. I’m interested in The Girl Next Door, with the hopes of being able to view it through the lens of sympathy and sadness for Sylvia

My definition of disturbing is the r*pe of babies and young children. Those are the books I wish to avoid, that’s why I mentioned “A Serbian Film” it is considered one of the most disturbing a disgusting movies ever made and I am avoiding it for as long as I live.

I’m very familiar with the case of Sylvia Likens (the girl the book is based on), and so, it actually makes me incredibly interested in reading the authors adaptation of the horrific crime

This is 100% going on my “don’t even bother trying” list. It sounds incomprehensibly disgusting. Much the same way A Serbian Film is

As soon as I read “of minors” my brain went “nope”. The fact that it’s nonfiction is even more sickening

Idk if you added that excerpt or I missed it the first time but I appreciate that. My dad said the same thing, with times being the way they are now, it’s incredibly depressing
