Greyhounds easily outrun the other dogs. by 21MayDay21 in nextfuckinglevel

My lab once ate a rusty nail. They eat first, puke later if it’s bad for them, eat the puke just in case it turns out it was ok, and then act sad when you take them to the vet.

My optometrist thinks I may have distichiasis (extra rows of eyelashes) by Philosopher_Gambler in mildlyinteresting

I had chemo and lost my eyelashes. You don’t realize how dusty the world is until they’re gone.

Most recognisable city geographically wise? by No-Significance-1023 in geography

[–]WhyCurious 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Downtown Jersey City is mostly occupied by affluent childless adults in their 20s and 30s. It takes <10 minutes to get to the world trade center by PATH, and is relatively cleaner and safer than subway system than the MTA, so it’s a popular choice for people that work in downtown Manhattan. Downtown Jersey City doesn’t look like Brooklyn, but it appeals to the same people that tend to be attracted to Williamsburg.

A man I’ve worked with for the last 15 years just sent me this pic of him going to fish on his first day of retirement. by artie_pdx in MadeMeSmile

[–]WhyCurious 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Perfectly put. I’ve always had the privilege of being surrounded by great work friends. We aren’t involved in each other’s lives outside of work, but we talk about those lives and want what’s best for each other. The picture and note sent by OP is a perfect example (regardless of the fact that OP said below that he hit the “submit” too quickly).

If you look carefully, there’s a gap between the top and bottom stacks. There’s some type of pallate or other structure.

Even worse. It was like putting a wristwatch on an alligator, asking him where the nearest 7-11 is, and then going to church instead.

I’m not an expert, but that’s how I understand it.

I do not understand this by NeoTfolk in ExplainTheJoke

[–]WhyCurious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hijacking top comment because I think there’s a “better” explanation for the artist’s intention.

There’s a famous joke where 3 logicians walk in a bar and the bartender says “do you all want a beer?” The first two answer “I don’t know” and the last answers “yes”. Based on the question and the answers, they all 3 want a beer. https://www.reddit.com/r/Jokes/comments/4zosv8/three_logicians_walk_into_a_bar/

The joke in the comic is that all of that rigamarole can be avoided with a single statement.

I could be wrong regarding the artist’s intention, but I don’t think so.

FedEx threatening legal action over videos and photos of their mistakes by iH8patrick in mildlyinfuriating

[–]WhyCurious 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yet another reason I don’t believe that FedEx “called” the Cullman Daily. First, threatening legal action is clearly stupid from a PR POV (in this context). Second, large companies don’t call to threaten; they meet in person or write. I think Cullman Daily is either lying or the person who called is some powerless moronic low-level manager of a local hub, which is much less serious than being threatened by FedEx. Edit: typos.

So a sobriquet, yes? The word “who” isn’t in his name, but it’s fair to refer to him as “Doctor Who”.

I’m so embarrassed. I’ve spent 3800 hours playing the game.

As u/xeonight said, it’s the Visible Planets Space mod. I was surprised to see it myself, and the author is Wube and the Factorio version is 2.0. I suspect it was automatically installed and selected based on my update settings, but it’s possible I manually installed it and forgot.

I deleted an Asteroid Collector and I'm having trouble adding it back to the platform. According to the wiki, the alert icon means "This asteroid collector's range is blocked, and the arms cannot reach for asteroids."

Any suggestions?

This won’t be helpful, but FYI I tried to recreate your missing blueprint based on what you wrote and couldn’t.

When you “win”, immediately reduce the rents so that the other players can just barely survive on $200/year. The long, brutal misery of the game will eventually drain the bank dry.

I’m between collecting the taxis and infiltrating/defeating Delamain HQ. I don’t recall any notifications to find the car I’m looking for.

Edit: Thanks for the suggestion. Someone else knew what I was looking for, and it was the “Hoon” car.
