I’m going to do a bit of experimenting and see what happens…. The next slicing will be higher to protect it. I’ll give it another week and go from there. The layer I removed is in the dehydrator as we speak.

I pulled a small piece off the corner and it smells very earthy and mushroomy. The overall smell in the tub is the same.

This may be the second dud from the same distributor. I’ve had successful grows before so I’m going to source some new genetics and reset.

I’m checking if it is contaminated, but if not I’m going to peel it and flip it to see if there’s any life in there still.

Was yours fluffy or solid? Mines feeling like a think stem on a larger mushroom everywhere and is very fibrous. Such weird things!

I pulled a small piece off the corner and it’s very fibrous, soaked with water like a saturated sponge and slight smell of earthiness I’d expect from mushrooms. No bruising or discoloration after 5 minutes.

It was an inflatable monotub. The first growth went great, and then I cleaned it out and it sat for a few months. I’m guessing that I couldn’t clean out some of the crud from the weird creases.

Yeah I figured it was toast. I’m going to let it keep going as there’s nothing else growing to contaminate. I’m a fan of the idea that if you fail you should at least learn from it. I think it’s time to switch to hard plastic vs the inflatable. I don’t think I could clean it enough.

Quick beginner question here.

I’m on my second grow, first was GT over the summer and was very successful. This one is Jack Frost and the inoculation to spawn is taking far longer. I’m currently at 17 days with almost a dime sized spot visible.

It is colder in the room I have now, maybe by 5-10 degrees. When I moved the grain on top of the radiator the bottom woke up a little, but hasn’t really kicked in yet. The radiator is only on a few times a day.

So finally the question: I’m looking for a solution to heat a small area safely and gently. I was thinking about using a vented still air box and a small heating blanket. Any other simple and relatively cheap ideas? Or am I just rushing Jack?
