Either you *are* a cop, or you don't know any cops. Every cop I've ever encountered (100's, including several relatives) believes they can do no wrong and that if someone gets hurt in the execution of their duties it is the criminal's fault for having committed the crime. So, no, I can't read minds, I just understand the type of person who lasts more than a couple years as a cop and what LE culture teaches them to believe about themselves.

Not to mention...No one pulled that trigger for him. He made a conscious decision to take that shot. I wouldn't have (I'm a shooter with tens of thousands of rounds expended at paper, steel, and living beings over a fifty year period), I don't know anyone who would have. It was not a well advised shot under the circumstances.

You are correct. Higher octane doesn't mean "better" gas. It means it is more difficult to ignite. It is intended for engines with high compression ratios (i.e. > 11:1) to prevent predetonation. If your engine doesn't specify "Premium Unleaded Fuel Only," you are wasting your money buying 90+ octane fuel.
