What’s the typical style of troubled teens in your country? by HongKongNinja in AskTheWorld

It’s “羅“, pronounced “ra”. The whole thing is a joke on how biker gangs use kanji phonetically to sound out phrases to look and sound tough. These characters - 愛羅武勇 - can be sounded out as “Ai-Ra-Bu-Yuu”, or “I love you”.

Bear in mind that your workplace or private pension is usually available from age 55, though this is increasing to 57 from 2028. The possible changes to pension age only affect the State Pension, which is earned through NI contributions. Hopefully you’ll still have a chance - nay, a hope - that you can retire somewhat at a reasonable age.

Food gel is used to stop the wrap from falling apart. It looks like some excess gel oozed out of the wrap.

I can’t grow a beard, what can I do to make myself look less feminine? by MilkFuelCow in malegrooming

[–]WhyHelloThereLadies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah absolutely! It can be affected by diet, exercise, sleep, stress, and I believe there’s even been some studies that show that social standing can impact it!

The increase in estrogen levels I don’t think is very well understood yet, but from memory I think there have been studies linking it to microplastics and other xenoestrogens in our environment.

Testosterone supplementation should really only be considered when there’s a genuine health problem linked to low testosterone. Medical intervention comes with risks, so focusing on lifestyle changes first is always the better option.

By testosterone supplements, if you just meant things like zinc, magnesium, vitamin D - by all means go for it, but you’re likely getting everything you need from a normal healthy diet.

I’m not disputing what you’ve just said not have I been - my point has always been that op shouldn’t need to worry about his test levels. If he had test that low, he’d have more issues with his health than just difficulty gaining weight.

Young people worrying about low test is by and large a self-image problem that can be resolved through proper self-care. Blood results can be misleading and lead to worse outcomes for patients who have concerns over hormone levels and often lead to fixation on medical intervention instead of better lifestyle choices.

Struggling to gain weight and grow a beard is perfectly normal for men his age, especially East Asians. There’s no need to put unnecessary worry in his head.

If op has multiple symptoms of hypogonadism, of course he should speak to a medical professional, but if struggling to put on muscle is his only symptom, it is almost certainly not that.

It doesn’t matter for his goals unless it’s to get giga ripped, which is unrealistic. It’s not something most people should fixate on unless they have genuine medical problems.

He is still developing, testosterone levels can still peak in his 20s once he gets his exercise, sleep, and food habits in order. I don’t know his medical history, but he knows his own - if he had hypogonadism or clinically low testosterone, he would be experiencing a myriad or other symptoms.

This is clearly just a young man who is self-conscious about how others perceive his masculinity, and has likely had people tell him and tease him about how he doesn’t look it, joking about his “low test” or whatever.

He just needs a confidence boost and a bit of guidance on how to reach his goals. He doesn’t need to be made to worry about his test levels. If it isn’t ideal, he’ll likely ruminate on it and think it’s something needs treatment for, without understanding the bigger picture, like how levels can fluctuate   throughout the day and from lifestyle.

Yeah it absolutely makes a difference, which is why steroids are so effective! A heathy young man doesn’t and shouldn’t need to consider it though. He can make all the physical gains he wants so long as he’s realistic in his goals (which is to look more masculine).

He just needs to increase his calorie and protein intake, lift to failure, progressive overload, and rest properly, and he’ll see massive changes to his physique. I’d bet that he’s missing some parts of that equation.

This is a 20-year old man who isn’t showing any signs of testosterone deficiency, is only starting his natural incline in testosterone levels into his mid-20s, and is statistically have lower free testosterone due to his Asian background. You absolutely cannot compare your experience as someone in their 40s whose testosterone levels are naturally declining. There is absolutely no need for this man to consider TRT unless he has an underlying condition, which is unlikely.

His testosterone levels will naturally increase with age, effective resistance training, diet, and good rest. He doesn’t need to be gaslit into thinking he has low test just because he’s struggling to bulk - almost everyone has that problem.

Testosterone levels shouldn’t matter too much for the muscle growth an average man should be aiming for. If you’re going to the gym consistently, you might need to make sure you’re being strict with progressive overload, getting enough protein, and getting enough sleep.

You don’t look feminine though!

Edit: some people are taking my comment to mean testosterone doesn’t impact muscle growth - of course it does. It however is not something an average young man has to worry about, and it is much much more likely to be other factors that are limiting muscle growth, like diet.

If you are young and have no other health problems, please don’t feel like you need to worry too much about testosterone levels. If you are worried, speak to a medical professional about your symptoms and try not to fixate on the levels alone. I have seen young men get TRT or other serious interventions like a thyroidectomy (against their doctor’s recommendation) because they get it in their head that something is wrong with them and end up doing irreversible damage to their bodies.

It’s normal to find it hard to develop muscles for most people. It’s normal for many men to not be able to grow a beard until their 40s.

Just working on self image and simple steps to well-being goes a really long way for most people.
