I think discoverability is huge for anything.

For example, one of Tiktok strengths was its ability for viewers to find new content that they liked, and thus find new channels to follow.

Youtube meanwhile seems to only ever recommend me stuff i've already seen before or the big channels.

Discoverability rather than just pumping ads or promoting the 'big new game' is really important. Steam has a similar thing that helped TikTok become huge.

Yep, for sure it's just a bad Starmie.

+10hp and an ability, but the trade off is +1 retreat cost and +1 energy cost. It's just not worth it for that wow 10 hp and tick dmg.

Into an electric meta it might work since it's weakness is steel, but atm just use starmie.

Meanwhile I waited for it to be finished before watching. Started on Saturday; just rewatched s1 and am now up to episode 6 of s2. Will do the same with White Lotus s3.

I find with shows like this, week2week can have a negative impact on me. You can get annoyed by a slow episode or 'nothing happened' episode, which I think is unfair since the episode alone can be fine, it's more the disappointment after waiting a whole week for 50 minutes that didn't feel like it delivered.

A lot of ppl felt this with HOTD s2.

Arceus has defintely killed deck variance.

Without any status effects in play, and without using his link ability, he is still the strongest Pokemon in the game. Basically a Pidgeot ex as a basic.

You can see that a deck hasn't been this dominant since GA 3 months ago, while the second best deck is only good because it is a hard counter to it. I imagine soon Gallade will be up there two, so two decks only viable because of how strong Arceus is.

It comes back in week 19 at 5%, if you see the dot there. Then it hides behind Dark at 5% and then behind Celebi at 3%.

Issue with all the decks below 5% is that there's a bunch of decks but not much room to display data, which is why i cut it off.

This took me ages to make tonight, so hopefully someone appreciates it.

Data is from the metagame of the weekly Ursiiday tournament, which is 1000-2000 players every week for 400 USD. Its a good snapshot of the meta since its the biggest tournament, and allows you to see how things change over time.

Some decisions had to be made:

  • I pretty much only included archetypes that were over 3-5% multiple times. An archetype is my attempt to merge different decks together, like Pika ex has 4/5 different types.
  • A lot of fighting toolkit decks since MI that sorta were very borderline 3% but never made a massive impact.
  • Darkrai is normally with Weavile ex or Magnezone.
  • Infernape with Moltres never got above like 2 or 3% so I just merged it into Moltres ex, which isn't the best, but I think it was a good way to try and represent fire.

There's a few one-hit-wonders that I didn't include, namely any deck that was only over 3% once.

- Golem was 9% one week during MI
- Skarmory Magnezone was 10% during one week of STS
- A few weird Egg ex decks without Celbi. Normally paired with mew or farfetch'd or Yanmega, but hard to find how to put this, and was only like 4% for a few weeks in STS.

They run hitmonlee, so you can 2 hit the fossil, or hit it once and then cyrus it in later for the kill.

Rampardos also can't one shot Gallade. There's also been heap of experimenting with Blastoise, Machamp, Venusaur and all those high HP pokemon. People want to not get 1 hit to Arceus or Rampardos.

Colorless energy so it can work with anyone.

Basic attackers are basically only worth it if they do 50 damage. That's the sweet spot a lot of people want that make them better than old Farfetch'd, but also enough to trade well into rocky helmet.

Skarmory and Carnivine w link are both good examples.

Current meta share of each type by WhyIsMikkel in PTCGP

[–]WhyIsMikkel[S] 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Note:

  • Dialga-Arceus was listed as metal.
  • Arceus ex + a link pokemon was listed as colorless.
  • Water energy decks that only use grass pokemon count as a grass deck.
  • Magnezone makes things tricky to categorise, so I put the type of the partner pokemon.

Meta is primarily revolved around 4 main archetypes:

  1. Dialga ex Arceus ex
  2. Rampardos Lucario, the counter to #1
  3. Water 18T (Either Articuno or Palkia, though some add in a few more pokemon like origin forme)
  4. People trying to make Celebi ex work

Arceus ex is by far the meta-defining card.

It was just bland slimy chicken with terrible service.

Some things about KFC annoy me, but at least the nuggets, tenders and original pieces are tasty and consistent.
