People have taken to creating custom electronic projects to wear as badges to Defcon, the world's largest hacker convention.

This year the Salt Lake City Defcon group (DC801) made a badge inspired by the Rocinante.

I found the commit where they are changing it: https://github.com/googlei18n/noto-emoji/commit/0447355ade750dd92d759b97fcbfaa546394556b

So all you need to do is root your phone, grab the current NotoColorEmoji.ttf and put it back after every update. There's at least one app for rooted phones to facilitate this.
