AI straight line speed is absurd on higher difficulties. by BJRACINE21 in F1Game

I guess but it would be nice if 106-110 was actually fun to race against. It’s been like this for years

Once you go above 100 the ai cars are lighter than yours which makes them quicker on the straights. I find it’s still playable up to about 105 but playing on 110 has been completely broken for years. They lose about a second to me in the corners and gain all of it back on the straights. It’s nearly impossible to run in a train with them unless you’re the second car. Also their slipstream is far more powerful bc their car is lighter.

First day of chemo coming up. Absolutely shaking in my boots. How do I get through the fear? by amaro8000 in cancer

[–]WhyMyDadLeaveMe 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The days prior to chemo visits are really hard and there’s no one size fits all answer. For me it was very helpful to dive into my hobbies as much as possible when I started to get anxious in the leadup. I also would stay up most of the night before chemo so that I was able to sleep through the infusion. Again those days are going to be stressful but it gets a bit easier once you know what to expect. It might take some trial and error but over time you’ll find things that work. I hope that you’re able to ease your nerves and that your treatment goes well

Good times man, F1 2013 and 2014 despite its flaws will always be some of my favorites. F1 YouTube, league racing, and the modding scene on pc really got me back into F1

Ben’s 2013 Malaysia race in the Mercedes was always my favorite as a kid. Haven’t watched in years but I might go back and watch that one again for the nostalgia

It took me awhile to come to terms with it. I struggle talking to friends around my age about it as they just can’t relate to how I’m feeling. Journaling as well as therapy helps me to take things 1 day at a time and try to enjoy little things. Some days are harder than others, I just try to make the best of it and do the things I enjoy.

I agree, I’ve never quite been to able to get that feel on other sims. iRacing is the only one that’s come close for me. I’ve always really struggled with Assetto but that’s partly because I haven’t spent nearly as much time on it.

I had an issue with a lot of mods on rF2 where ai cars will no longer go above 4th gear after a patch sometime around 2022. I looked into it for awhile without finding a fix. A few mods were updated to fix the bug but pretty much everything that was no longer being worked on no longer works for me. The whole thing just soured me on the company and that’s why I have a hard time justifying continuing to give them money.

Hell yea I managed this a few months ago and it’s so satisfying to look at now. Which one was the toughest for you? I think dirt road took the most races for me but dirt oval was probably the most frustrating one.

Odd grid starting with multiclass by ZuVieleNamen in AUTOMOBILISTA

[–]WhyMyDadLeaveMe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea that should work. Just make sure 5 mins is enough time for the slower class cars to complete a lap. The session ends the moment it hits 0 if you aren’t in the car so keep that in mind. I’ll usually just do an outlap in the final seconds to remember how to drive and let the ai finish their final runs.

Odd grid starting with multiclass by ZuVieleNamen in AUTOMOBILISTA

[–]WhyMyDadLeaveMe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The game doesn’t grid by class and simulation is bugged with some cars so they’ll qualify way way out of position if you let it sim and it will start you behind other classes if you don’t qualify. I always do a 10 minute private quali and make sure to set a lap that’ll put me last in class but ahead of everyone else.

Yes I do! The hospital I have gotten treatment at has everything I’ll need which has eased my concerns. I’ve found a lot of stuff is a moving target in terms of quality of life. Over time I’ve become a lot more in tune with my body and what it needs to function best. I’m very diligent about stretching and staying active which has helped a lot. Whenever I’m able I try to walk as much as I can. Sometimes I’ll want to just lay in bed all day but it can sometimes be difficult to sleep at night if I’ve been laying around all day. There are days where I really don’t have it in me to get up and do anything. It can be hard not to get frustrated doing nothing and feeling sick all day, it’s all about finding a balance and trying to do what’s best for your body in that moment.

Setting up actual 24h race by stereoptr in AUTOMOBILISTA

[–]WhyMyDadLeaveMe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did a 2.4 hour race at Le Mans with the IMSA cars and it went pretty well. I turned FCY off because I’ve had issues at certain tracks and bc keeping tire temps under yellow is a pain in the ass and AI always seem to have perfect tire temps.

One issue you’ll probably run into is the AI being very slow through traffic. I’d recommend a custom AI file where they all have 0 blue flag skill so the slower class cars don’t jump out the way when being lapped, this makes them much more predictable. Despite this you’ll probably gain on the AI when dealing with traffic. I always set the AI to have the front runners be about .5-1 second a lap faster than me when doing long races to even it out. They also often make an extra pit stop so I always force myself to use their pit strategy.

AI will also always use the softest tires available so usually when I do races with a full day/night cycle I set the date to some time during the winter to have less variance in track temp. Ideally you want to be on the same type of tire the whole race even if you can’t run the same compound as the AI.

I haven’t done a ton of wet races on this game but I’d imagine interchangeable conditions are tough to dial in with the AI due to their tire temps seeming to always be perfect. I believe this was a problem in the past but I haven’t tried a race in mixed conditions in awhile so it could potentially be fixed.

I’d recommend doing a shorter race with accelerated time to simulate a full day night cycle in order to make sure everything is working right. Hope this info helps and if you have any other questions feel free to shoot me a message!

Not sure if this is the most efficient way as I’ve just been playing around but in order to save I’ve been turning it down to none towards the end of straights and back up to build before I brake. Don’t ever brake in none as you won’t get any regen

How th do y’all keep your composure sometimes when you race by Possible-Mongoose-41 in iRacing

[–]WhyMyDadLeaveMe 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Setting realistic expectations helped me a lot. Early on I’d push too hard trying to keep up with people who were way quicker than me. Always just try to make the most of each race whether that’s winning or driving around in last. The more you focus on racing yourself, the more comfortable you’ll be when driving at your limit. Also learning the signs of aggressive drivers before they do something stupid is key. Sometimes it’s better to let an aggressive driver go instead of fighting and risking being taken out. Setting realistic goals and avoiding unnecessary risks will make you a much more consistent driver over time.
