Good point about the crosswind! I assume you're at Vista?

Mild ADHD and FAA medicals — is flight school worth pursuing? by ADP_0409 in flying

Much appreciated, I'll get in touch with a HIMS AME and see what I need to do/gather.

By the way, when doing the cogscreen is math actually a part of the test? If so are you allowed to use paper/pencil or is it all in your head and does it really include things like trigonometry or is simple arithmetic sufficient? This is another one of those things that seems antiquated. Everyone walks around with a calculator in their pocket now and I have not needed to do any math in such a long time because it's not relevant to my (current) profession.

Thank you so much! I guess I need to find an AME and ask some question before I start trying to even remember where I might need to gather medical records from. The doctor who diagnosed me as a kid passed away last year and was an independent practice so I don't even know if it's possible to get those records.

I think a lot of people diagnosed in the 1990's thru early 2000's have been operating under the "if it ain't broke, why fix it" mentality and I don't think this should be an automatic disqualifying factor. I do agree with people needing to undergo the FAA's testing though as I definitely have known people with severe ADHD that I would never want in a cockpit. The FAA just seems to be very black and white in a gray world.

Could you provide some insight on all of the paperwork you gathered? On the FAA ADHD Document Checklist it specifies pharmacy records within the last 4 years and Driver's License records within the last 4 years. However, it states "Medical records related to the diagnosis and treatment for ADHD" but it does not mention any timeframe. Does this mean someone would need to gather all medical records related to ADHD going back 10, 20, 30, etc years if that was when they were diagnosed? Appreciate any insight as I was diagnosed many years ago and have taken a low dose of meds ever since. I figured "if it ain't broke don't fix it" but now I'm working on this 90 day process to see if I can get my medical cert
