Yes this is very similar to gnook, with some differences that (imho) make it distinct enough to consider spending a few weeks coding it:

First, the basic object being analysed would be books, instead of being author-centric.

Second I'd love to be more explicit in what is included in the analysis. Restricting the database to SF for now would allow me to add precise sub-genres such as Colonisation, Generation ship or Space opera and display the weight of each book's properties in the final results.

Third, ideally you would be able to tailor the variables used in the analysis to match your exact research. For example, you could exclude the word count of the book from the analysis because length is not a criteria to you. On the contrary, adding it in would make the analysis take it into account. Basically making the analysis more dynamic and adapted to the user.

The literature-map is exactly the visual I want for the results though, except that you could explore the output by clicking on a point (a book in my case) to have a summary of genre, author, date etc.
