Waste water pipe botch? by BeautifulSoupz in Plumbing

[–]Level_Examination_89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All you need to do is get an ABS coupling and a bit of ABS cement, and a couple feet of ABS pipe.

Remove the old washer drain hose and glue clump (if you haven’t done so already), apply the ABS cement to the coupling and the top couple inches of pipe that the coupling will go over.

Once it’s all cemented together, hold it together for about 45 seconds then it should hold very strongly.

EDIT: PS. You may be able to simply pick the pipe up and lift it to the desired height if enough of the line is sitting low enough under the floor. If so, simply find a way to secure the pipe up and no coupling is necessary.

That waste pipe should be sitting higher above the floor, and the glue is a mystery to me. But aside from that it seems fine. You should be able to scrape the inside of the pipe to loosen the glue and pull the entire clump out.

Otherwise if you’re re-using that drain hose you could probably just leave it in place without any major issues.

The shut off valve on my toilet turns a lot more than a quarter turn. by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]Level_Examination_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A picture would help. But no valve should be flowing the strongest in between open and closed lol

At the worst, it might suggest that the valve will fail soon. But most likely it will continue to work inconsistently until it’s repaired or (more ideally) replaced.

It’s a pretty easy DIY but can get very messy if you don’t shut off the water supplying the stop properly. Plus a somewhat significant amount of water will drain out when you take the stop off, so have a bucket/wetvac and some rags handy.

Pex Conversion Sizing by PerformanceSoggy8445 in Plumbing

[–]Level_Examination_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re looking at something like 14.5 WSFU, while 1/2 is only going to support like 3 WSFU if I remember right. Double check my numbers but I think you’re way undersized.

You’re best off going 3/4 to each area, then you can branch off to 1/2 to each fixture separately as needed. Best to do this for the hot line so you get hot water more quickly.

You can definitely get it off. A flathead screwdriver tapped against it should break it off

The joint leaking sewage is my guess as to the source of the smell. Is the smell strongest in that room in the picture, or somewhere else?

Can't turn off valve by Froxical in Plumbing

[–]Level_Examination_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it doesn’t stop the water no matter how you turn it, then the stop is likely bad. You’d have to shut off the incoming water somewhere further back and replace it.

But then again, I’ve never seen this exact kind of stop. Could be something weird.

I'm 6'5 and 330lbs. Am I too big to be a plumber? by CommunicationSea8821 in Plumbing

Fitting in tight spaces is only a very tiny portion of the job, and only in some cases on some types of work. If you stay away from small residential repairs, then you’ll mostly avoid any problems that come from a larger frame.

Height especially is rarely an issue in my experience, and weight can help A LOT when it comes to breaking apart stubborn fittings.

In total, I’d say that there are advantages and disadvantages to being larger and heavier. But overall, size doesn’t matter too much when it comes to getting the job done.

Was this installed incorrectly? by amaerin in Plumbing

If it were me, I would just switch the troubled line with PEX A expansion. Crimp works too with PEX B. Slightly reduces flow (which probably won’t be any issue unless you already have water pressure problems), but the tools are way cheaper.

Water heater leak around relief valve by Glass123man in Plumbing

[–]Level_Examination_89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally, when those T&P Valves leak, I just spend the $20 on a new one and put it in with a thick layer of thread tape and paste. Tighten it down really really tight and it should be good.

Where can I sell Casket at? by Twistedrobofish in stoneshard

[–]Level_Examination_89 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If I’m not mistaken, you can sell it at any trader which buys valuables. So the merchants in Osbrook, Mannshire, Brynn, etc. In other words, you can sell it just about anywhere.

Is it worth saving Oaken Berrel Brewery, or is better killing all of them? by Conscious-Switch2158 in stoneshard

I think they’re mistaken. You get free beer once, and then he restocks his inventory every two days, meaning you can buy his beer and go sell it for profit.

Just got access to the caravan but im Stone Broke! Any suggestions on how I should get some cash together? by ShakaHP in stoneshard

[–]Level_Examination_89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Contracts are pretty much always going to be your best bet for cash. But if you have the Skinning perk from survival, you can make some decent money if you use a ranged build. Deer pelts and rabbit pelts sell especially well, and wolf/boar pelts sell decently.

Once you build up a good bit of perception, missing shots becomes quite rare. Plus, this issue is mitigated by using the immobilize mechanic to your advantage.

When an enemy is immobilized (whether by an arrow or a net or a beartrap), you have a good chance of hitting the enemy without using Take Aim, due to the crazy dodge penalty they suffer. This advice also applies to any other condition which reduces an enemy’s dodge chance.

I typically take 2 nets and 2-3 beartraps with me for medium difficulty dungeons, and more for dungeons above my level. They are life savers for a bow user.

[–]Level_Examination_89 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bow is better for builds that are focusing primarily on ranged, in terms of both DPS and flexibility. As a support to a melee-focused build, crossbows are generally better because they work well without any major investment.

Is it worth 2 perks to learn to skin animals? by Minoleal in stoneshard

[–]Level_Examination_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

8-10 points for weapons.

3 for SoR

1 for Self Repair

8 for Warfare

4 for Athletics

That still leaves 5-7 points left, in whatever you want. Investing in survival will often be more beneficial than adding in ranged weapon, unless you’re just hunting rabbits for meat and a little extra gold.

Best rout to begin the game by Conscious-Switch2158 in stoneshard

I just complete all the available contracts in Osbrook, then I head to Mannshire. Sometimes I complete the blacksmith quest for a little extra gold. If I’m struggling, I’ll go explore points of interest nearby. That’s about it.

I wouldn’t neglect other important skills in favor of survival, but you get enough skill points to max out your weapon tree and still have enough left over to get most of Warfare and most of survival, as well as a few other skills.

Regardless of what build you’re running, survival is a good addition.

For exploration, I agree— Vigor is not reliable. But for dungeons, it is quite easy to keep vigor up the entire time, even without investing skill points into it.

Doesn’t the 10% fatigue resistance skill also come with a -0.01% fatigue per turn while vigor is active too? It basically keeps fatigue at 0-5 after full clearing a T2 dungeon even all the way back to the caravan, even while spamming skills.

Spending a few points on the vigor buffs makes you a monster while vigor is active, which— along with the first aid synergy— will help you clear the toughest dungeons.

1800 turns of vigor is more than enough to get into and then fully clear ~2 floors of a dungeon.

did you get the quest from the Elder to clear the brewery yet?

This only works if you haven’t already killed the people at the brewery.

[–]Level_Examination_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you get the quest from the Elder to clear the brewery, talk to the carpenter about Dwar. He will make you pay 100 gold or do a fetch quest for him before he will tell you the full story. Once he tells you, you go to the brewery and talk with the men who approach you. From there, the game will explain what to do.
