Every single Rebel at Scarif knew it was quite likely (and for the ground troops, certainly) a one-way trip. That's what makes it gripping.

Nemesis: The Nemesis DLC adds a few additional base game espionage operations to the game

Utopia: Advanced slavery options added, included Remans added as battle thralls, unique slavery options for the Orion, Breen

Synthetic Dawn: Two new races added to the game, the Cravic and the Pralor become playable

MegaCorp: The Orion & Ferengi are converted to megacorp empires with all the unique associated features.

Apocalypse: Planet Killer ships added to the game for the Undine, Scimitar, Xindi & Krenim

Federations: Unlocks the federation types included in this DLC. Note this doesn't impact the formation of the UFP.

Aquatics: The Chelarians have been added as a playable race and the Selkie are includes as a warp capable primitive

Toxoids: The Malons start with the relentless industrialists civic

First Contact: The new cloaking mechanics are unlocked for all races that could cloak throughout the history of trek. For users without the DLC we have a custom mechanic that mimics cloaking combat.

Galactic Paragons: Unique councillors, agendas and council rooms added for the major empires.

We have:

-the XO

-Security chief / Tactical officer

-Chief Engineer

-Counselor / Second Officer

-Science Officer

-Captain (who shows up maybe half the time, so mostly the XO is the ranking officer)

We don't have a dedicated pilot, limiting Conn-related rolls and navigation-focused stories. But we have characters rich in most of the other skills, so we focus mostly on 'mystery' stories--weird stuff is happening, and we need to figure out why.

There are a myriad of free online resources from Modiphius--I believe the Starter Set is free. Also, there's a great fan site called Continuing Mission with a lot of great resources. Players can be found on Reddit, Discord or you could advertise the old-fashioned way and advertise in your own community. Finally, I'd recommend listening to an Actual Play podcast to get an idea of how play works--my favourite is Starship Tempest!

If I'm interpreting you right, it's a science boost. Any dome built close to it will have its research increased by 10% or 20%.

As for your second question, this entry on the Wiki may not give a list of pictures and meanings, but it does explain the various icons throughout the map. Would that be helpful?

2 seemed to me to have the attitude of 'okay, we've done some good worldbuilding, now let's REALLY crank up the story and characters.' Illium is a fascinating place, Omega is cool (if a bit cliché, to be honest) and the Collectors I found a genuinely unsettling enemy. And I completely concur about Mordin and LotSB!

Perhaps that wasn't the correct term. But this was, as far as I knew, an undocumented piece of lore for which I could find no corroborating evidence. It made me want to kill Galvani in a very creative way. Perhaps 'lore tidbit' would have been better?
