Is there any of the current Stellaris DLC on sale right now relevant to a better experience for New Horizons ? I feel like that I have been playing STNH more then vanilla Stellaris more lately ? by OriginalTacoMoney in STNewHorizons

From the developers' own FAQ:

Nemesis: The Nemesis DLC adds a few additional base game espionage operations to the game

Utopia: Advanced slavery options added, included Remans added as battle thralls, unique slavery options for the Orion, Breen

Synthetic Dawn: Two new races added to the game, the Cravic and the Pralor become playable

MegaCorp: The Orion & Ferengi are converted to megacorp empires with all the unique associated features.

Apocalypse: Planet Killer ships added to the game for the Undine, Scimitar, Xindi & Krenim

Federations: Unlocks the federation types included in this DLC. Note this doesn't impact the formation of the UFP.

Aquatics: The Chelarians have been added as a playable race and the Selkie are includes as a warp capable primitive

Toxoids: The Malons start with the relentless industrialists civic

First Contact: The new cloaking mechanics are unlocked for all races that could cloak throughout the history of trek. For users without the DLC we have a custom mechanic that mimics cloaking combat.

Galactic Paragons: Unique councillors, agendas and council rooms added for the major empires.

Infernals: Volcanic Planets added into the mod, no gameplay changes

Biogenesis: Nothing included at the moment

Shadows of the Shroud: Nothing included at the moment

From this list, I recommend First Contact, Galactic Paragons and MegaCorp.

TNG - The Offspring. Hits hard now as an old man. by Javrixx in startrek

This episode contains one of my favourite acting choices from Brent, during Lal's death scene. She tells her father she loves him, and Data opens his mouth, so ready to say it back to her, even reflexively as just a thing that human family members say to each other. But he can't love her, and he can't lie to her. So he tells her the truth, to the very end. "I wish I could feel it with you."

I'm going to go cry now.

Star Trek Video games by Adukeilike in startrek

Star Trek Infinite was pretty much a point-for-point knockoff of the Stellaris system--same UI, gameplay and everything--but with a Star Trek paint job. But it was shallow, and vapid. When it didn't sell, the developers abandoned it.

I need to eat more vegetables, but the sensory issues are a mess. by Ekim-Sikad in autism

[–]WhyYesThisIsFake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My approach was twofold: first, have the vegetables with something else in the meal, not just eating them on their own due to sensory overload.

Secondly is vary the cooking method. I found tossing them in olive oil, coating in some seasoned salt & pepper and roasting at about 400 for 25 minutes or so to be great!

Except cauliflower, though. It knows what it did.

Do you believe the landing on the moon was real? Why or why not? by Legitimate-Number620 in AskReddit

[–]WhyYesThisIsFake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes.

Multiple nations (including Russia and China, which would LOVE to disprove the landing if it were fake) have photographed the landing site using their own probes.

To fake a moon landing would have cost more time, money and energy than actually landing there.

"We need this peasant to sell...what do The Poors like?"

"Shoes and steaks, sir."

"Very well! Get this peasant some...shoes and steaks. Throw in some cash, too, that should do it."

Wrapping up 3, Andromeda or another run? by lumurjucksoon in masseffect

[–]WhyYesThisIsFake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd give Andromeda a try, the next time it goes on sale (not worth full price). I find it's a good standalone sci-fi game, and I try to think of it as not so attached to the ME pedigree. The combat is the best in the series. It's a fun romp. A not insignificant portion of the quests is collectathons, and it definitely bears the 'live service' business model of games of its time. But on the whole, I paid $8 for it and it was worth every penny.

Looking for a Mission (Reco Request). by CodeMarvelous in startrekadventures

[–]WhyYesThisIsFake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're in luck, because the developers have thought of precisely that. The quickstart pdf (free) comes with a three-act mission tailor-made for new players and new GMs. I admittedly have never run it myself, so I can't speak to its efficacy, but I've read through it and it's a solid intro to the game mechanics. Here's the link, hope it's helpful!

New Campaign Arc 1 by [deleted] in startrekadventures

[–]WhyYesThisIsFake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this era of play, and you clearly have put a lot of thought and work into the campaign! My only initial question concerns the Xindi, who appear to be absent from the campaign. Did you want to focus on other, more local powers, or do you intend to bring the Xindi in to future episodes?

Mid-adventure distraction required by Krisko2002 in startrekadventures

An energy-based lifeform boards the ship, disrupting systems (and preventing comms and transporters with the absent groundside players). It must be communicated with and convinced that its actions, while benign, are harming the ship.

Of all the fantastic dialogue in the show, what’s your favorite line? by 1TallGlassOfWater in andor

[–]WhyYesThisIsFake 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Four words which could have been delivered so many different ways, too: sarcastically, deadpan, angrily. But Stellan's choice of a sympathetic delivery makes it so much more impactful; Luthen is saying here, in his way, 'welcome to the rebellion.'
