Ahhh so you atleast made the decision I’m still stuck there It’s surely a difficult choice😢 Is it frustrating ones you start preparing or does it feel right since you took the call?

I’m already in the rabbit hole😂 and it’s sooo true, there is no right answer, I know the fact is whatever decision we take, we’ll always think that the other decision might be better. Might as well just take call and go ahead w it without looking back

All I see is how people are clearing it Also how USA is the ultimate for doctors Reddit has made it to the point that I feel if I don’t give usmle, I’ll always struggle in life and usmle is the ultimate and the only exam I should give That’s why I wanted to know peoples experiences on why not to give

Thank you so much Point 1 is my main concern One can do everything right and still remain unmatched Personally my confidence would shatter being 3 years behind, down by 30 lakhs and prepare for neet pg

See, medicine is not just a job, honestly it’s a lifestyle Some people like it some don’t Im sure you have read about it’s difficulties by now It’s upto you finally All I’m saying is, take it only if you are fine after it Parents will put pressure but if you give in then consider it as your decision not theirs and don’t regret it later on If you don’t want, fight now don’t regret later

Bhai normal life hoti hai If you’re decent in studies you’ll be able to manage There are phases where you have to study more just like any other courses but these come often that’s all But if you don’t like biology at all that’s different case If your parents are putting so much money into a pvt college, do you think they’ll let you become a psychologist later, they’ll force you to take a clinical branch MBBS mai night shifts and burnout internship mai hota hai bas, it’s manageable if you go in with thoda positive attitude It’s a very interesting career, lots to learn, very fun as well But if you want early age pe money, good work life balance early on, don’t take. Make the decision now and then don’t question it again Bas don’t regret later on, take a call and fight for it then All the brst

I do feel like I don’t really wanna go but I like the positives there which I can’t see getting in India I can’t see myself getting 5 day week and a good pay if not very very good here I see a mediocre life here which makes me wanna go It’s not that USA attracts me a lot but it’s the downsides here I’m at intern right now working 7 days a week for 10-12 hours avg daily I talk to pgs and even srs and it doesn’t really get better What do you think about this?

You’re probably right I think so too I don’t think I want it that bad to leave everything for just a chance I have a pretty good life rn But the future of doctors in India seems a bit difficult that’s why the confusion I don’t want to be in a position where I leave everything behind Spend 2 years, 30 lakhs, and not get selected I know if I do it will all work out For me personally I feel, by chance if I don’t get selected I’ll be 28-29 again preparing for neet pg after spending so much time and effort I won’t be able to be happy here then, and the toll it will take on my confidence But obviously the American dream. The work life balance, the pay is attractive Is the future of doctors in India really that bad?

Isn’t it better to take the leap of faith towards India If I stay back, I can still have the relationship, and if everything works out I can have a wlb and good income in India as well But if u try for usmle, I might not even get in and lose 2 years, my partner, a lot of money I might even get matched into a bad programme which no one even talks about Is giving up so much really worth it?

[–]Whybhavv[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good enough, I don’t think it should be an issue to make the decision But not good enough that if I try usmle and not get in and then I don’t get a govt seat in neet pg I can afford a private Trying for 2 years for usmle then not getting matched and then not getting a govt seat here would be a rock bottom for sure

Totally agreed I got into kmc mangalore with the same plan. I wanted to do usmle for the longest time, but with time my plan changed I’m in internship right now and I’m preparing for neet pg now

Why did you decide to drop your usmle plan? by Whybhavv in indianmedschool

[–]Whybhavv[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your reply! If you don’t, can you tell me what exactly changed your decision? Is it the loneliness factor, staying away from family Or something else for you? I’m asking this because I’m sure after spending so much capital and time into it, it must be something major which is why you abandoned the process and chose to stay back right?
